So I Married a Werewolf
“It’s cool. I hope you don’t mind I already picked dinner. The show’s about to start. I wanted to make sure we got a good spot and we didn’t miss anything.”
“That’s perfect.” I followed him to the blanket. Someone had put together a low to the ground pallet table and hung string lights along the edge. A bouquet of colorful wildflowers held court in the middle of the table, and pillows had been strewn around the perimeter.
The sun had started to slip behind the stage, painting the sky in the same colors as our set up.
A waiter came over with a bottle of champagne.
“This is way fancier than I imagined.”
Logan raised a brow as he clicked his glass against mine. “Disappointed?”
“Hardly.”
“I’ve been thinking about what will happen when our episode is over,” he said as another waiter approached with cloche-covered plates. I’d expected sandwiches wrapped in wax paper and cans of beer, but this was amazing.
“Oh yeah?” I looked down at my plate. “How did you manage to get my favorites?”
The food came from the Chinese restaurant in town. There was beef and broccoli, lo mein, mini scallion pancakes, and Peking dumplings.
“When you know the right people, you can make things happen.” He took a bite of his food. “This is damn good.”
“Yeah, it is. Now tell me what you were thinking about.”
“What if we kept filming? Nothing on this scale, but I think it might be a cool way to show people what it’s like to live with a pack, and maybe that will be a way to extend some goodwill to the wolves of Green Mountain, and we can spotlight what they’re up to. These wolves deserve that kind of attention. That’s why there’s been so much trouble. They’ve been made to feel like they don’t matter.”
This might be exactly what the Green Mountain wolves would need to make a real change. “That’s amazing.”
“And I get that. My pack didn’t understand me, but I was brave enough to follow my dreams. Think of the dreams that we could support.”
Tears stung my eyes. “They will love this. Thank you. For accepting all of me.”
