Savage Heart (Wreck & Ruin 2)
I nod.
I feel eyes on us as we walk through the foyer towards the bank of elevators on the far wall, but once inside, we’re alone. Warmth seeps into my bones but I was so tired.
At the room, Hunter ushers me inside, placing me on the bed where I promptly curl up. I needed a shower, I was sure there were sticks in my hair and everything from the waist down felt sticky. I must have drifted off regardless because I startle when Hunter sits besides me, the mattress dipping with his weight. “Come,” he helps me up, “Let me take care of you.”
He wasn’t joking. Once we’re both undressed, he sits me in a giant tub and climbs in behind me, the bath big enough to fit at least four meaning his legs slot down either side of me, nestling me back against him. The bubbles smell sweet, and the water is almost too hot but perfect. My head thumps against his chest and my eyes close again.
“It was a sedative,” His voice startles me, the vibration travelling from his chest into my spine.
“What?”
“What I gave to Eleanor. It was only a sedative. She would have woken on her own.”
I sigh heavily.
“Why?”
“You’d never forgive me if I actually hurt her.”
“I don’t forgive you even if you didn’t,” I admit.
His hands smooth down my arms before he brings them round to rest on my stomach.
“King won’t forget what you did to her.” I say, “He’ll figure out a way of getting you back for it even if you tell him it wouldn’t have harmed her.”
“I look forward to it.”
I shake my head.
After some time soaking, we quickly wash off and climb out, bubbles sticking to my skin as I let him wrap me up in a fluffy white towel. “Go lay down for a while,” He kisses me, “We have a few hours before dinner with your brother.”
I let out a heavy sigh, that was going to be interesting.
