Frankie's Bride

“I never sleep,” I say but I do lay down. She snuggles into my side. Immediately, I calm down. Even my thoughts quiet. She has managed to do what I haven’t been able to.

She brushes her fingertips over the tattoos on my chest lightly.

“What made you get these?” she asks.

“It was a couple weekends before the incident. We got drunk and went and got them. My life was ordered and boring before this happened. This was chaos in the best possible way. ”

“This nice. I’ve always wanted several tattoos.”

“Now is your chance,” I say kissing her forehead. She then tilts her head up and I kiss her lips. Rolling on top of me, she pulls my sweats down just enough to pull my cock out. Her hot wet mouth wraps around the head. She sucks expertly.

“Your mouth is amazing, baby,” I say gripping her hair. She doesn’t let up at all. It doesn’t take long before I’m coming down her throat. Still hard, I flip her onto her back and slam my cock home. She comes screaming my name and I fill her pussy. I pull out of her slowly and adjust my pants.

“So good but so sleepy,” she murmurs closing her eyes.

Before I know it, I’m sleeping too but it is not dreamless sleep.

I’m running through the woods, in the pouring rain. I am just wearing the grey sweatpants I fell asleep in. I have no idea where I am, but I know that I can’t stop running. I hear a scream and rush toward it. When I reach the clearing, I see Polly lying on a giant slab of rock. There are strange carvings etched into the rock above her. Her white dress is stained red and her hair is wild. Slowing down, I reach her. She’s breathing shallowly but otherwise she seems fine. I can’t find a wound on her. It appears she’s in the dress she came to the hospital wearing. How strange. It also isn’t raining here. I don’t have time to contemplate the impossibility of all this, I need to get Polly to safety.

I follow some low chanting around to the other side of the slab. There I find a little girl. Where she turns her head, her eyes are red. Not bloodshot, but actually red. They glow in the dark.

“My sister called the police, but now I’ll get it right. She who ruins everything shall be no more. She who ruins everything shall be no more. She who ruins everything shall be no more,” she chants in three’s.

“What did she ruin?” I ask quietly.

“Everything. Her being what she is ruined everything.”

“What she is?” I question.

“I thought she was the answer to my prayers.”

“How?” I ask. I feel like I just need to keep her talking.

“She came here to free my parent’s from the burdens they created. I am not anyone’s burden. I won’t be made to feel as such. You don’t get it, men never do.”

“You seem much older than ten,” I hedge.

“Ten? Please. This vessel is ten, but I am much older,” she says standing.

“Who are you?” I demand.

“Sorena, the Guardian of the Past.”

“You can’t have her.” She means to take over her body and I can’t allow that.

“But I need her vessel. It has to be her. Do you know how long I’ve waited for someone with her insides?”

“It’s irrelevant. She is mine.” I feel the exact moment she wakes up, but she doesn’t make a move. The possessed beings face distorts in anger. Then her hands raise, and fire shoots out of her fingertips, burning my arms. Looking down, I see red welts already forming. The pain is incredibly intense, but I don’t wake up.

For the first time, I realize this isn’t a dream. This is really fucking happening. How did we get out in the woods? How do we get out of the woods?

“She is no more. Once I finish this charm, she will be gone, but I will be even more powerful. Her blood is even better now. What did you do to her? Maybe she can sustain me now.”

“I saved her. That makes her mine.”

“Silly man. Trying to lay claim on what can never be claimed. Women are as wild as the sea. They don’t want to be claimed or controlled. They only want one thing.”

“This one does and is,” Polly says sitting up. She wasn’t bound, but she shakes her head to clear it. My girl was probably drugged, and it kills me.

“Oh good. You’re awake. This will work so much better now that you’re up.”

“What will?”

“The ritual of transfer.”

“What happens to Demina?”

“She’s still in here. This was just a temporary vessel. They are all temporary. She’ll be fine. No memories of me whatsoever,” Sorena says.

“Fine. I will do this willingly.”

“Even better.”

“Polly, are you fucking kidding me? I just found you. You can’t ask me to give you up.” I say angrily.
