He helped her in and then slid in behind her. The immense amount of bubbles he’d put in covered her enough he was unable to see anything. She breathed a sigh of relief. It was inevitable that he’d see her back, but she wanted to hold off for as long as possible. She wanted their reunion to be special and not sad.

“I should put my hair up.”

Drake reached into a basket on a shelf above the tub and grabbed a band for her.

She quickly lifted her hair and put it in a messy bun. Her hair was so long it had gotten wet on the bottom, but she thought it would dry quickly enough.

Her eyes slid closed when his hands started running over her. “I love your hands on me.”

He chuckled. “I love them there, too.”

They sat quietly for a few minutes.

“Tell me about you,” she said. She tensed when he got rigid.

He cleared his throat. “When I came back to the States, I kind of lost it.”

She looked over her shoulder at him.

“I drove to a plot of land I’d bought in the mountains several years ago. For the first two months, I slept in a tent while I built my cabin. There had been one there but had burnt down several years ago, but I was thankful to have electricity, plumbing, and the foundation still intact. The cabin is one room right now. I don’t even have the bathroom set up beside a toilet.”

“Tell me what you meant by you lost it,” she said.
