Daddy's Little Sweetheart (Daddy 15)
Chapter Thirteen
Late afternoon the next day, they pulled into his driveway. They were both tired and hungry, and he just wanted to get them situated in his house.
He’d texted everyone and told them he’d have a get-together the next night because Kyla was so drained, she was ready to fall over.
Everyone understood and was just glad she was home safe.
He grabbed a few of their bags, took her hand, and showed her the way to their bedroom.
“Oh, wow,” she said as she looked around the large room. “This is where I’m going to sleep?”
“This is where both of us will sleep, sweetheart. If you don’t like something, I want you to tell me, and we’ll change it.”
The room was done in soft blues and browns. The walls, bedspread, and some of the accents were blue, and the rest was a light brown. The bathroom had the same color scheme.
He loved the way it relaxed him being in his house but especially his bedroom and the backyard. He couldn’t wait for her to see the back and the playroom their friends had set up. He had yet to see it, too. Rylan had sent him a few pictures, but it wasn’t the same as seeing it in person.
Duncan decided to wait until the next day because she was exhausted.
“Let’s get you into a shower and then bed.”
“Are you coming to bed, too?”
“Of course, sweetheart.” He cupped her face in his hands. “I’m just going to bring a tray of food up and make sure the doors are locked and the security system is on.”
“Oh, okay.”
He had her stripped and into the shower. While he waited for her to finish, he turned down the bed.
When he got back, the water turned off.
“Here, love. I’ve got a towel.”
She stepped out of the shower, and he wrapped the towel around her.
“I’m going to get you into bed. I don’t want you to brush your teeth until after I get some food in you.”
“Okay.”
“Okay, what? What do you call me?”
She blushed. “Daddy.”
“That’s right. Let’s take your hair down.”
Her dark hair was long and beautiful. He brushed through it with his fingers a few times. Damn, he loved her silky hair and could spend hours playing with it.
He tossed the towel into the hamper, led her into the bedroom, and then held the blanket up for her to slide in. He leaned down and kissed her forehead. “I’ll be right back.”
Duncan walked around the house to make sure everything was okay before turning on the security system. In the kitchen, he started looking through cabinets and the refrigerator. He hoped he had enough to feed them.
He was shocked to see the refrigerator stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, dishes with different meals, juices, milk, wine, and beer. It went on and on. His chest tightened with emotion.
He couldn’t have a better life. He had a woman he could see spending the rest of his life with, excellent friends who went above and beyond what they needed to, and an incredible career he was good at, enjoyed, and made good money.
A tray was set on the counter already, so he added some things to it, then grabbed a juice for her and a beer for him.
A smile grew across his face when he saw her sitting up in bed with the comforter tucked up under her arms. He set the tray in front of her and then sat opposite. He handed her the opened grape juice, one of her favorites, and popped the top on his beer.
