Room 452
We pull up to a little clothing shop near the beach. I raise my eyebrows. “Am I really supposed to go in like this?” I ask.
Sawyer turns and smirks at me. “Don’t worry sweetie, I’ll pick something out for you.” He says sarcastically.
“Nope!” I say as I hop out of the car. “No way I’m letting that happen.”
I grab a new suit and a dress in case we want to go into any more shops at the beach. “You guys have sunscreen?” I ask as I look at some sunglasses.
Chip hollers from the other side of the stand. “Yep!”
Sawyer comes up and places a sun hat on my head. “Get one of these floppy things.” He says. “Seems like something a stuck up bitch would wear, so, you know?”
I shove my elbow back into his stomach, and he laughs. I put the hat under my arm to buy anyway. “I will, thanks.” I say as I turn and look at him.
He grins at me and then leans down and cups my face as he presses his lips to mine. He pulls away and goes back to talking with Chip about something like nothing happened, but I stand frozen in place for a second. What was that? He’s never kissed me like that before. Every time we’ve kissed it’s been sexual. That was sweet. Almost romantic. I feel my stomach flip nervously. What the fuck am I doing?
I walk over to the checkout counter in silence while Sawyer and Chip joke around with each other. I set my items on the counter, and the lady rings me up. I go to pull out my credit card, but Sawyer is already inserting his into the credit card machine. “What are you doing?” I ask.
He looks at me genuinely confused. “What do you mean?”
“Why are you buying my shit?” I ask, sounding angry instead of grateful.
Chip looks between us and then says he’s going to wait in the car. The cashier hands us our bag quickly, probably feeling awkward since I am being dumb and making a scene in front of her. Sawyer doesn’t answer. He looks like he doesn’t know what to say. He didn’t even think about it, which is what worries me. Why does it seem so natural for him to take care of me like we are together?
He grabs my arm and leans down and whispers in my ear as we walk out of the store. “I’ll let you pay me back later.”
I don’t even get upset about him basically telling me he’s paying for sex with me because I’m just glad we are back into our normal relationship boundaries, which is no relationship at all.
We walk back out to the car, and Chip drives down closer to the water. “I need to change.” I say as the guys get out.
Chip walks away, and I tell Sawyer to stand guard. He leans his head into the open back seat window, resting his arms there. I raise an eyebrow at him. “You’re just going to stand there and watch?” I joke.
“Yes.” He says without smiling.
I shrug like it’s no big deal even though I’m getting all hot. I reach down and pull his shorts off, and then I smirk at him as I slowly open my legs, completely exposing myself to him. He steps back and looks away and blows out a breath. “Jesus Christ Blake. You’re so fucking naughty.”
I laugh and quickly throw my bikini on and then my dress over top. I get out of the car and Sawyer grabs my hand as we walk over to Chip and then down to the beach. Sawyer’s fingers intertwined with mine seems so natural. I decide I’m not going to fight it anymore today. It’s one day. What’s the harm in just being with him fully for one day?
We spent the rest of the afternoon out by the beach. We swam, we layed out, we shopped, we got ice cream, we walked the pier. Chip tried to pick up a girl multiple times. That was a major fail. He’s over talking to another girl now while Sawyer and I lay by the water. The day has been amazing so far. If I didn’t know better, I might actually think I could be friends with Sawyer.
He’s different today than usual. I didn’t realize how funny he is. Before all his jokes were always sex related, but I guess that carries over into his regular life too. I guess I didn’t realize he had a life outside of sex. It’s strange though, even though he’s been flirty all afternoon, ever since the car when we first got here, he hasn’t really tried anything overly sexual.
He’s actually been a gentleman. He paid for all our snacks, he reached for my hand whenever we were walking anywhere, and he didn’t try to fight every guy who dared to look my way.
I turn and look at him, and he
smiles at me. I bite on my thumb, nervously. “Is this weird?” I ask.
His smile grows. “You’re about to make it weird, aren’t you?”
“No.” I protest. “But it is weird, isn’t it?”
Sawyer rolls his eyes and laughs. He leans back on his arms on the towel. “Do you need a reason to be here? Are you feeling out of control?” He asks sarcastically.
I cross my arms over my chest. “It wouldn’t hurt. Got any ideas?” I joke back.
He nods his head toward my phone. “We can send a picture to Todd. Make him jealous.”
I laugh. “Why would you want to do that? You know you’re just going to cockblock me with him.”
