I finally looked over at him. “Are there footprints in the snow?”

Just as I asked the question, Tobias walked in with snow-covered shoes with Isaiah walking closely behind, still on the phone with Tate.

“They disappeared. There were tire tracks down by the bottom of the gate. They’re gone for the night.”

For the night.

“I got it,” Isaiah said into the phone before finishing with, “By the way, whoever has duty tonight fucking sucks at their job. An actual assault happened, and they’re nowhere to be found.”

Then, he clicked end on the call and pushed his cell phone into his pocket.

“Come on, let’s go get our girls. I’ll fill you in on what Jacobi has found out, too.”

I nodded and followed after him with my hope low and my suspicions high.
