Vikings from Mars
There was some dodgy stuff going on, which Raine didn’t like at all. She couldn’t blame the Vikings wanting to keep their acute hearing on the downlow. On the other hand, it also gave them a way to overhear conversations meant to be private. Trying to remember if she had said anything she hadn’t wanted overheard by them, her gut clenched in worry for Piper.
She had to be mistaken. Could she be overanalyzing everything because she had found out Skars had deviously watched her shower? There was certainly a way to find out if Martian men had the ability to hear above the range of a human.
Going back under the water, she started to soap herself. Feeling silly, she gave a low moan.
“Is the water too cool? Do you need me to raise the temperature?”
Her jaw clenched in anger. “No, the temperature is fine,” she replied in a normal voice then proceeded to tell Skars what she really thought about him to test him again.
“You dirty, rotten …” she mumbled under her breath. She felt the words leaving her mouth, but even she couldn’t hear them she spoke so low.
“What has you upset?”
Raine stared through the water falling down on her to see Skars standing in the doorway.
Envisioning her favorite latte, Raine gave Skars an inviting smile.
“I can’t reach my back. Would you mind …?” She trailed off provocatively.
The big lug of a Martian nearly tripped over his own feet to fulfill her request.
Taking the soap out of her hand, he started running the petal over her back.
Rubbing her back against his hand, she slowly turned around to give him a full view of the front of her body. Raine waited for his eyes to drop to her breasts before giving a blood-curdling scream that would have rocked a human’s hearing, much less a Martian who she suspected had sensitive hearing.
Other than Skars staring at her questioningly, he didn’t react.
Staring at each other, their gazes became challenging.
“Why did you scream?”
“I thought I saw a spider on the wall,” she lied.
Skars narrowed his eyes on her expression. “Which wall?”
“The one behind you.”
“There are no insects on my ship.”
“That’s good to know. I hate bugs.” Pretending to shudder at the thought, she stared back at him.
“Why did you really scream?”
Fed up with the pretense, she glared at him. “I screamed because I wanted to know if your hearing is sensitive.”
“Anyone would be sensitive to the noise you just gave.”
“Then why didn’t you react?”
“I’ve gotten used to your screams.” He shrugged while reaching out to cup one of her breasts.
Angrily, she squatted it away. “So, your hearing isn’t sensitive?”
“No more than yours is.”
At least that was a relief … if he was being honest. Which something told her he wasn’t. She really couldn’t blame him for not trusting her with the information. Not only could he be hurt if she shared the information, but his clan.
Raine came to the conclusion that she wouldn’t be sharing her suspicions with any other humans. So, she moved on to calling him out on something he didn’t have a good excuse for.
“I just noticed something new about this room.”
Unperturbed from getting his hand smacked, he reached for her other breast. “What?”
Raine’s hand went to his forehead to lift his eyes to meet hers. “The walls are mirrored.”
A sensuous smile played across his lips. “I didn’t look.”
“You looked!” she snapped back.
“Prove it.”
She couldn’t, and the jerk knew she couldn’t. Well, two could play that game.
Turning around, she gave him her back again. “My back, please.”
His hand returned to slide silkily over her back. Hers went to the side to run down the length of his thigh. Encouraged by her touch, he moved under the water with her to nuzzle her neck.
Pressing her buttocks back on him, she felt his penis begin to stiffen against her. Taking a tiny step forward, she broke the contact. He hooked an arm around her waist and pulled her back into his arms.
Her hand went to the hand at her waist to move it to her breast. Erotic pleasure exploded within her chest at his touch. Losing ground quickly, she had to remind herself that she wanted to teach him a lesson to keep herself from sinking into the wildfire his touch could spark just by being near her.
Giving up the game she had started, Raine decided to cut and run while she still could.
“I’m good.” Twisting out of his hold, she moved to stand over the blower. “Thanks for your help.”
“I thought you wanted me.”
Unwisely, she shrugged, forgetting she had just decided some lessons were too dangerous to teach. “Prove it.”
Skars’ expression grew cunning instead of angry at being sexually played. “Such a thing is easy to prove.”
Moving to the blower, his hand went between her thighs, seeking the wetness the blower hadn’t had time to evaporate. One lone finger easily slid inside.
