“Well so what. You used to like kissing me.”

“Never said I didn’t want to.”

“This is dumb. I’m tired.”

“You started it.”

“I did not.”

“Why you want to lie for? Its only you and me here. You want it all ya gotta do is say so.” He moves to his back and pulls me onto him.

I straddle his waist, his erection presses against my ass. I stare down at Hound, and it would be easy to get lost in his eyes. To get lost in him and the past we share.

I trace the tattoos on his chest noting the new additions that weren’t present the last time I had him naked. Like the portrait of She-Ra on his right pec. “Do you know why I left?” The question comes out and I don’t know why I’m bringing it up now of all moments to do so.

“Why don’t you tell me.”

I let out a shaky breath. “Because you terrify me.”

“You’re afraid of me?”

“Not like that.” I shake my head. “You’re a good man. Too good for me and I lied to you. I let you think there was something happening between Sandman and me when there wasn’t. I wanted to push you away.”

“Why?”

“Because I didn’t deserve you.”

“And gave me no damn say in it.”

“I could say that I’m sorry, but it won’t change anything. I was just a silly girl at the time.”

“And who are you now, darlin’?”

“An even stupider woman who makes terrible choices.”

“Now there’s some honesty.” He strokes his thumbs over my bare thighs.

“The past is just that. The past. How long you planning on staying this time?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it. I don’t know how Torsten will take to my sticking around. I don’t have shit. I left everything in Wilmington.”

“What are you running from?”

“Nothing for you to worry about.”

“You’re in my bed, grinding your ass on me. Think it’s fair you tell me what you’re really in town for.”

“Does it matter?” I don’t want to drag him into my shit. Him or the Royal Bastards. Carlos isn’t a man to be fucked with. Neither are the bastards, but I don’t like bringing my problems to their doorstep either.

“Yeah, it fucking matters, but we can discuss it later.” He cups my jaw, sliding his rough hand down my throat.
