Broken Soul (Jackson Family 3)
inessa
I sobbed into my hands, another blood clot rushing down the drain. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to breathe through the pain cramping my abdomen.
I felt like dying.
Someone, just kill me, I silently pled.
I couldn’t deal with this.
I looked up when the bathroom door opened. Emmaline stood in the doorway, her eyes wide in horror. “Inessa!” she yelled, rushing towards me as she tossed her phone onto the bathroom counter. She got drenched the moment she stepped into the shower with me. “Oh, no, honey. Is this what’s wrong?” she demanded, noticing the blood washing down the drain.
I cried harder, nodding my head. She ran her hand over my hair. “Honey, I need to call Jaxon. He’s the only one who can help you with this. You shouldn’t be in this much pain, and you definitely shouldn’t be bleeding this heavily. And all this blood isn’t normal. Do you feel faint?”
“Always do,” I croaked, my throat feeling raw from all the crying and sobbing I’d done.
She quickly stepped out of the shower, dripping water onto the tile floor. A moment later, I heard her speaking to Jaxon. “Hey, you need to get here now. It’s bad.”
She hung up a moment later and stepped back into the shower with me. She squatted beside me on the floor and held me close to her, not even phased by my nakedness. And I was in too much pain to care about modesty.
“He’s coming, hun.” She ran her hand over my soaked hair. “He’ll help.”
I sobbed. “I didn’t want him to see me like this,” I cried.
Emmaline ran her hand over my hair again. “He’s your husband and your dom, Inessa. He wants to take care of you, but he can’t do that if you don’t let him know what’s going on. Communication is everything. It’s the base of your entire relationship. Just let him help you.”
Jaxon stepped into the bathroom and walked over to us, not even flinching at the sight of me. I bit my lip to hold back my sob. Emmaline quickly stood after leaning me back against the wall. “I need a pad,” he told her. “And panties. The most comfortable pair you can find.”
She nodded and rushed out of the bathroom, heading for our closet. Jaxon cradled me close, the water still spraying down on me. “Does the hot water help?” he asked.
I nodded. “I’m sorry,” I cried, feeling really shitty for the way I spoke to him. He hadn’t deserved my cutting words. I’d said them out of some fucked-up twisted need for self-preservation.
He pressed his lips to the top of my head, making me sob. Even after what I’d said to him that morning, he was still being sweet and taking care of me as if none of that had ever even happened.
“Don’t,” he soothed. “I know pain can make anyone lash out, baby girl. Just breathe. I’m going to get you taken care of.”
Emmaline rushed into the bathroom, and after putting a pad in my panties, Jaxon helped me to my feet, turning the water off. My legs felt weak, and I was a bit light-headed, so he kept a hand on me at all times while he worked on drying me off. He didn’t even flinch when blood got on the towel while he dried off my legs.
Emmaline held my shoulders as Jaxon helped me pull my panties up. Then, he steered me towards the toilet and wrapped a clean towel around my shoulders. “Stay with her,” he told Emmaline. “I need to change and get you both some clothes.”
Emmaline held my hands in hers, letting me squeeze them as pain ripped through my lower stomach and my back. When Jaxon came back in, he was wearing a pair of sweats and a long-sleeve shirt, dry shoes on his feet. He handed Emmaline a pair of my shorts and shirt, quietly thanking her for her help before she left the bathroom and slipped into our closet to change.
Jaxon pulled a loose-fitting t-shirt style dress over my head before lifting me into his arms, carrying me down the stairs. “I’m taking you to the emergency room,” he told me. “You’re losing too much blood, and you need a doctor.”
“No doctor,” I mumbled. I’d always been told I would deal with this on my own. What if my parents found out?
“I don’t believe I asked what you wanted, little bunny,” he told me, calling me by that familiar nickname. More tears sprang to my eyes at the sound of it. “You need medical attention, and you’ll be getting it. This is not up for discussion.”
With that, he stepped into the garage and settled me into the passenger seat of an SUV. He buckled me in before pressing a kiss to my lips. I sniffled. “Just breathe, baby.”
With that, he shut the door, and before long, we were backing out of the garage and heading down the long drive towards the highway.
