Broken Soul (Jackson Family 3)
jaxon
Things had been. . . peaceful since I had been home besides the news I’d received about the Bratva. According to Jaxon, after I’d been incarcerated, the Mexican cartel had been taken care of. I didn’t know how, and I didn’t ask for details. I trusted James. When he said he took care of something, I knew it was taken care of.
Inessa moaned, her body rolling up to meet mine as I kissed her, my fingers working inside her tight cunt. We’d been fucking nonstop for weeks now. I couldn’t fucking get enough of her, and honestly, I was pretty sure she felt the exact same way.
“Sir,” she whimpered, her hands tugging on the cuffs anchoring her to the bed. “I need—”
“Come for me, little bunny,” I rasped against the skin of her neck.
She cried out, but then suddenly, she gagged. I grabbed a trashcan and thrust it in front of her face right before she threw up. I held the can with one hand and worked on her restraints with the other. By the time I had her unhooked, she was breathing heavily, her eyes closed.
I gathered her close, my heart pounding hard in my chest as I held her head to my chest as I set the trashcan beside the bed. “Talk to me, baby girl. How are you feeling?”
“Stomach is churning,” she mumbled. “I want to go home.”
I brushed my lips to the top of her head. “Let me get you dressed,” I gently told her. I stood from the bed and handed her the trash can while I worked on gathering her clothes. We’d been so eager to come together in the private room at the club that our clothes had landed everywhere. I hadn’t even punished her for not folding them and putting them into a chair like she was supposed to.
Once I was dressed, I worked on getting Inessa dressed, being slow and gentle with her so I didn’t jostle her stomach so much. Thankfully, she had worn a dress, so it was a matter of just putting her bra and panties on her and slipping her dress over her head.
I lifted her into my arms, and she curled her arms around my shoulder, resting her face in the crook of my neck. I dangled her heels from my hand as I walked out of the room. “Gemma,” I called when I noticed her coming out of the office, “you mind having a valet bring my car around?” I asked her. “And you need to get maintenance into that room ASAP. Inessa got sick.”
She nodded as she pulled her phone from the pocket of her leather pants. “Of course.”
I walked outside and waited for the valet to pull up with my car. Once he did, I settled Inessa in the passenger seat and adjusted the vents to blow some cold air on her before I walked around to my side, shooting a text off to Emmaline as I did so, asking her to put a pregnancy test in my bathroom.
I wanted to knock out the possibility of her being pregnant before I took her to see a regular doctor. Honestly, I wasn’t ready for a baby yet, not so soon after being out of prison, but I knew it was a possibility again. Inessa and I hadn’t been using protection, and she wasn’t on birth control. Besides working out, the occasional meeting, or eating meals, all of my time was spent with her.
I hadn’t given her an opportunity to go to the doctor yet to get birth control. And I certainly hadn’t had time to go get a vasectomy. We’d been too deep inside of each other.
She moaned halfway home and patted the door. I quickly pulled over and threw the car in park right as she pushed open her door. I held her hair back for her as she threw up. Then, she began crying. “I got it on your car,” she whimpered.
“No big deal, bunny,” I assured her. “I’ll get someone to detail it,” I promised her as she shut her door, tears still sliding down her cheeks.
She sniffled. I slid back into traffic and then grabbed her hand in mine, holding it until we got to the house. I carried her upstairs and set her on her feet in the bedroom. Her eyes instantly zeroed in on the pregnancy test on the bed, and without a word, she snatched it up and walked into the bathroom.
Like a creep, I leaned against the wall outside of the bathroom, waiting for her to take the test. It felt like forever, but she eventually opened the door and shook her head at me. “Not pregnant,” she mumbled.
And then she sprinted back into the bathroom to throw up. I was by her side instantly, holding her hair back out of her face and rubbing her back to help soothe her. “I’m here, little bunny. Just breathe,” I coaxed once she emptied her stomach.
She groaned and leaned back against me. I reached forward to flush the toilet before holding her close to me. She relaxed into my hold, shutting her eyes. I rested my chin on the top of her head. After she fell asleep, I carried her to bed, laying her down before texting James to let him know I wouldn’t be available tomorrow morning.
I needed to take her to the doctor to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. I was hoping she only had a small stomach bug or maybe something she ate just wasn’t agreeing with her.
I didn’t leave her side for the rest of the day or night. I just stayed by her side, taking care of her the best that I could.

Inessa had tried to hold down something light for breakfast, but it came right back up. So, I skipped out on my own breakfast and took her to the doctor.
“I feel bad you didn’t eat,” she mumbled.
I shook my head and tightened my arms around her. We were waiting for the doctor to come in to check her over and see if he knew what was going on with her. “Baby girl, you are my first priority,” I told her, meaning that. “I can eat when we get back home if I really need to.”
“But you get grumpy without food,” she muttered.
I laughed softly and dropped a kiss to her temple. “Stop worrying about me, bunny.”
A light knock sounded on the door, and the doctor stepped in a moment later. He smiled at us, and after gently squeezing Inessa’s thigh, I slid off the cot so the doctor could get to her. She frowned at me but didn’t say anything.
“Alright, let’s see if we can figure out what’s got you so sick,” the doctor began. He listened to her breathing and checked for swelling on her abdomen. “No swelling. Your blood work shows a bit of a high white blood count, which suggests just a small stomach bug. I’m going to prescribe you some nausea medication. Stay hydrated. If you’re still feeling bad in forty-eight hours, come back to see me, okay?”
Inessa nodded. He handed her a prescription, and she slid off the cot. I grabbed her hand in mine before leading her out of the small room, and after checking her out and paying the bill, I led her out to our car.
She was asleep before we left out of the parking lot. After I got her prescription filled, I took her home, and I spent the rest of the day taking care of her, nursing her back to health. Thankfully, the nausea medication kept her from getting sick anymore, and I was able to keep her hydrated. She still didn’t feel much like eating, and I wouldn’t force her. As long as she was hydrated and I could at least get broth into her system, I was happy with that.
“How is she?” Emmaline whispered as she poked her head into the room.
I looked up at her and shrugged before looking back down at my wife, running my hand over her hair as she slept. “Trying to get better,” I said quietly. “Fingers crossed for tomorrow.”
Emmaline nodded in understanding. “I’ll let James know to give you a bit more time.”
I nodded once. “Thanks, Emmaline.”
She cast me a sweet smile before she closed the door again. I looked down at Inessa and sighed softly.
Get better soon, little bunny.
I hated seeing her sick and down like this.
