Falling for Fangs
“Too good?” Maxwell quirked his mouth. “Want me to stop?”
“Don’t you dare!” Chloe wrapped her legs tight around him. “Never stop!”
“I never want to stop.” Maxwell quickened the pace and made her cry out as he filled her up, again and again. “Never want this to stop. I just want you, always here with me.”
Chloe made a sound that she hoped signified agreement, but she couldn’t make words anymore. Not when her body was exploding into dizzying nebulas, galaxies, new worlds underneath him. The pleasure was so intense it was almost painful, consuming her whole body until there was nothing but Maxwell.
She was downright angry at her treacherous body when she began to feel orgasm rise, threatening to sweep through her with the force of a hurricane.
“I’m going to—”
“Good.” Maxwell pushed into her harder, faster, his mouth pressed against her throat. “Do it. I want to feel you come for me.”
Chloe cried out, pressing her body into his and let go. Pleasure bubbled up inside her until it overflowed like a geyser, an exploding volcano, an avalanche of bliss rushing through her. She was weightless, disembodied, ecstatic, only the feeling of Maxwell’s strong arms holding her tight to keep her tethered to reality. She squeezed tight around him as she came, willing him to come for her.
Maxwell swore out loud, his body going rigid as he thrust into her wildly, groaning out her name again and again as his orgasm peaked.
And maybe Maxwell didn’t have to breathe, but Chloe was gasping for air as she came down from the high, her chest rising and falling under his. She opened her eyes slowly, and Maxwell was looking at her with a dazed smile on his face like he had been surprised by sheer joy, pure bliss.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead, just a gentle brush of lips.
“Hey,” she said softly, looking up at him and feeling more relaxed than she ever had in her life. Her work, her need to achieve, and even the Small Business Awards, seemed a thousand miles away and utterly irrelevant.
“Hey.” Maxwell twisted a lock of her honey-coloured hair around one finger. “That was…”
“It really was,” Chloe agreed. “We really should have started doing that sooner, you know. It might have taken our minds off the whole curse thing, for a start.”
Maxwell chuckled. “I wasn’t sure if it was what you wanted,” he said quietly. “And I didn’t want you to think I was just hitting on you because of the way you look. I’m sure you get enough of that.”
“I’m sure you do, too,” Chloe smiled against his skin, inhaling the scent of him; some kind of expensive cologne and something else; rich, dark, and beyond human.
“I wanted you to know that it wasn’t just that you’re so bloody gorgeous,” Maxwell went on. “That I…care about you.”
Chloe’s heart felt like it might just burst out of her chest. That would be both messy and gross, so she hoped it wasn’t medically possible. “I care about you too,” she said instead.
“Then I’m very lucky,” Maxwell said. “For a cursed vampire.”
“Only for a little while longer,” Chloe pressed a soft kiss to his jaw. “Soon you’ll be free and you can do whatever you want.”
“Please tell me that includes you.”
“Oh, it does,” Chloe said. “It really does. I’d be very unhappy if it didn’t.”
“No chance of that,” Maxwell told her, moving off her carefully and then drawing her body to his once more so that they were nose to nose. “Is this the part where you tell me you need to get home because you’ve got an early start? Nine showings, ten meetings, eleven contracts to review?”
“All of that is true,” Chloe admitted. “But…I think I’m going to take the day off.”
“No!” Maxwell put on an expression of exaggerated surprise. “I can’t believe it!”
“I’ll tell people I’m sick,” Chloe said, shrugging against him. “I’ve never taken a sick day. They’ll think I’m on my deathbed to skip work.”
“Instead, you’ll just be in an undead’s bed,” Maxwell quipped, and Chloe laughed even as she rolled her eyes at the pun.
“No place I’d rather be, actually,” she said. When Maxwell kissed her again, thoughts of sending out cancellations for her various meetings flew out of her head entirely. Right now, this was all that mattered.
