15. ASHER

It hurt, but I had to. I was about to lose my job and those tips. The money was good, and I needed to keep making the money while I could. The last thing I wanted was to ever get a reputation. I’d seen a few of the guys at the Manor get reputations and shortly after they stopped showing up. People had rumors about what happened to them, but they were fired.

One of the rules, although unwritten was never to take someone home. I didn’t know if I could go in and explain that he was my teacher, because that would’ve made things weirder. So I had to cut it before I fell for him more, and I didn’t want to get used to him making me breakfast or the way he cuddled me and gave me kisses while I was sleeping, or at least had my eyes closed.

“You ok?” Spencer asked as I stormed into the frat house.

He was always everywhere I was, and was becoming more than a coincidence.

“No,” I said, confronting him. “I’m not ok. Why? Tell me why you want to know?”

The brothers stopped and looked at what was happening.

“Chill, it was just a question,” he said.

“You’re obsessed with me,” I said. “Why? Because I won’t fuck you anymore. Spencer. You have a girlfriend. Why would I want to continue doing that with you, just because you’re addicted to feeling wanted. Well, I don’t know what makes you think I want you anymore.”

A lot was revealed, and I didn’t quite care about what I’d said. In the moment, it was needed. He was a fly around me, landing on my skin at the most annoying times and then doing whatever flies do that makes them so irritating.

I stomped off to my room. I was supposed to be going to the Manor tonight. From Thursday until Sunday, I worked each night there. But I couldn’t bring myself to even think about going. I needed the money, so that was the motivation, but they’d ruined whatever I had going with Ma—the professor.

A knock came at my door. Jordan peered in, chuckling to himself. “So much drama,” he said. “Everyone is downstairs talking about it. I don’t think they’ll stop until you go and give them a little press conference.”

I buried my face into the bed. “I don’t care,” I told him. “Honestly. I really don’t care. He’s been bugging me for weeks, and the last couple of days, I just haven’t wanted to even bother with him because of his pissed he makes me feel.”

Jordan was probably one of the only people who knew, and he only knew because he’d spotted Spencer leave my room. It wasn’t like I cared much anymore about the people who knew. I was me, and I allowed my body to be the temple of pleasure I always knew it could be. I gave pleasure all the time, and it was my job, for which I was going to be late.

“I think everyone suspected you two had a thing,” he said. “That confirmed it.”

I rolled over, looking up at the ceiling. My ceiling was much different to the ceiling I’d seen in the professor’s bed. “You know, I liked spending time with him, then he decided to get a girlfriend and I wasn’t going to help him cheat on her. That’s just not who I am, you know.”

It sucked to even try and explain to him what I was going through without mentioning anything about the professor. I wasn’t about to air more of my dirty laundry, enough of that had gone out today. I also found it quite funny how I’d basically just outed myself in front of everyone. Spencer was out as bisexual, he’d said so during Emmett’s coming out.

“So, what are you gonna do?” Jordan asked. “I have to ask, since I’m still the frat president, and the last thing we want is for the end of year party to suck because you fought with one of the twins.”

I’d forgotten that. Spencer was one of the Vander twins, who came from the Vander money family. Nobody would take my side if it came down to that. I had nothing to offer them, well, I had humor, comedy, and I could swim rings around them, but in terms of what mattered most in this place. Throwing expensive parties and taking pictures with bottles of Grey Goose, I couldn’t afford to give them that.

“I’ll give him half an hour,” I said.

“He’s not going to apologize to you,” Jordan chuckled.

A knock came at the door. “Asher,” Spencer’s voice hushed and soft.

Pushing myself up on my elbows, I stared at the door with Jordan stood against it.

“Asher. I’m sorry,” he said.

“Looks like you’re wrong,” I told Jordan.

He opened the door to Spencer, the look of shock on his face to see him inside.

“Come in,” I called out, throwing my head back against a pillow.

Jordan left and Spencer came in, closing the door behind himself.

“Listen,” Spencer began, sitting on the edge of the bed beside me. “Yeah, I’ve been pestering you, but you won’t let me speak.”

Gesturing with a hand rolling, I invited him to continue speaking.

“Yes, I am in a relationship, and yes, I also want to keep doing things with you. Is that a crime? No. I get that you don’t me to cheat, but I wouldn’t be cheating. She’s open to us playing around.”

I had thoughts, but I didn’t want to be proved right. I didn’t want him to tell me I wasn’t letting him speak again. I shook my head. I wasn’t interested in being a secret or hiding away. I wanted to do what was right by me, and if that meant making some tough decisions, then that’s just how it would be.

“My parents were the ones who set the relationship up, and we’d been together before, and so it came naturally for the two of us to be together. We enjoy each other’s company, and there’s a lot of fun between us, but she’s also bisexual too.” He sighed, reaching out he placed his hand on my leg. “If that’s ok?”

I shook my head. “It’s not ok,” I said. “We’re from different words, from different lives, and sometimes, it doesn’t work. I’m graduating soon. I—”

His hand pulled away. “Ok,” he said. “Well, I’m actually glad I got that off my chest. I just thought it was some thing you were playing me over.”

“Nope.”
