“How much for a fuck?” he asked. “The two of us. At the same time. We see a spit roast in your very near future.”

I gasped, pulled back my hand, and slapped him hard across the face. “What kind of guy do you think I am? A tramp? I wouldn’t sit on your dicks if they were carved out of gold.”

“What the fuck!” He rubbed his cheek. “You sold your ass to Mr. Palmer. What’s two more?”

“What I did with Mr. Palmer in the privacy of his bedroom is none of your concern. In fact, I’m going back to him this minute to make a formal complaint about you. I want you two fired.”

With a huff, I marched back up the stairs, swishing my behind.

Please let them fall for it.

“No, no, don’t do that,” the one who hadn’t spoken yet said, following me.

“You insulted me. Jerk!” I glared at them over my shoulder and flashed him a middle finger. “I’ll have you know I don’t sleep with the help. Ever.”

At the top of the stairs, I strode toward the bedroom I’d just left. I dared a peek at them again. The two men were only a few feet behind me.

Armed.

Double fuck.

“You don’t need to bother Mr. Palmer. I’ll apologize.”

Interesting. They both seemed afraid of their boss knowing they propositioned me, but then I’d been counting on that. That Mr. Palmer and his fragile ego wouldn’t be too keen on his men sharing the same guy he’d just fucked.

“If I were you, I’d stay away. I may need to fuck him again just to get this ridiculous proposition out of my mind.” I swept my gaze over them. The guns in the holders at their waists seemed like the only weapons they had.

I clutched the doorknob and opened the door just enough for me to squeeze through. “Mr. Palmer, I’m back,” I called. “I’d like to report two of your heavily armed guards who want to intimidate me into sleeping with them.”

I slipped into the bedroom and carefully spun the lock on the inside. Sully frowned at me from his position over a suspiciously Palmer-size shape rolled up in the rug. My stomach turned, but I swallowed the bile. Now was hardly the time to get squeamish over a dead body.

“What are you still doing here?” Sully hissed.

I rushed over to him and clutched his arm. “We have to go. There are guards here.”

“I already took them out.”

“Well, there are more.”

“Mr. Palmer!” the bodyguard who’d propositioned me called from the other side of the door. “It was nothing but a misunderstanding, sir. We didn’t mean to offend your friend.” The doorknob rattled. “Mr. Palmer?”

“How many?” Sully asked.

“Two, but there might be more.”

“This isn’t right,” Sully whispered, glancing around the room frantically. “I need to get you out of here.”

“Mr. Palmer, are you in there?”

Sully strode over to the sliding doors that led out to the balcony. Large pounding echoed on the door now.

“Mr. Palmer, if you’re all right in there, please let us know, or we’re breaking in, sir.”

“Kit, come over here.”

“But what about him?” I pointed at the body. If we didn’t take the body, Sully would only get paid a half of the deal he’d cut. Losing out on another two hundred thousand dollars was a big fucking deal.

“He’s already dead, Kit. You’re the one I’m worried about. Get out on the balcony.”
