Fall From Grace
I grin into the phone, knowing he won’t turn me down. “If it isn’t a bother.”
He chuckles into the phone. “I’ll talk to her. With the baby on the way, we don’t have any more rooms upstairs, but there is the room in the basement. I can get it cleaned up. It’s a walk out, so you’ll have your own entrance at least.”
“Have I ever told you you’re my favorite brother?” I ask with a smile on my face.
“I’m your only brother.”
“But the best one there is.”
He laughs. “When can we expect you? Knowing you, you’re already in the car on the way here.”
“Not quite. I am moving everything to storage today.”
“Tomorrow then?”
I laugh. “Yeah.”
“Okay, sis. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
He hangs up the phone, and I breathe a sigh of relief. I really hope I can start over in Asheville. Or at least past the time until I can find a job somewhere. At some place that damn senator hasn’t been able to blacklist me.
