Chapter Eight

Imani

Present Day.

“Axel, it’s not your baby,” Isa announced.

My chest tightened as if someone was squeezing my insides. Disbelief settled in my stomach when those words escaped my sister’s mouth. I felt sick and anxious while my heart tried its best to beat straight out of my chest. Instead of responding, I heard my mother gasp before Axel’s voice boomed. “What the fuck did you just say?”

“You think you’re the only one with secrets?” she quizzed. “That’s funny.”

“If I’m not the father, then who is?”

“That’s none of your concern anymore. You’ve made that clear.”

“Are you kidding me right now?”

“Do I look like I’m kidding? The wedding is off. Why are you still here?”

“We’re not done here!”

“You lost the right to have an opinion here, bruh. Let’s go,” Bleu said, placing his hand on Axel’s shoulder.

Axel snatched his arm away. “Get your goddamn hands off me!”

I saw the heat rise in Bleu’s eyes. Axel didn’t know he was poking a bear and was about to get his ass ripped apart. “We can do this the easy way, or not. I don’t give a fuck, but you gotta go,” he warned.

“So, you were going to marry me knowing you were carrying someone else’s baby?!” Axel roared.

“Axel, calm down!” My mother interjected before Bleu grabbed him.

“Bleu, get him out of here!” Isa screamed.

“I said, get your fucking hands off me!” Axel roared, shoving Bleu back a few steps.

“Damnit, Axel. That’s enough!” my mother yelled.

Within seconds, Bleu snatched up Axel, lifting him off-balance into the air and swinging him down to the ground. Then, he stood over him with his fist drawn, ready to strike him if he dared get up. I smirked. There was something so sexy about watching him deliver Axel’s ass whooping in a suit. The ghost of a smile quickly faded when I heard my mother’s voice again.

“I’ll go find the wedding planner and tell her the news.”

“What? That you were fucking your daughter’s fiancé behind her back? Because I’d pay to watch you humiliate yourself in front of all those people,” I snapped! “Axel’s leaving, and your ass needs to leave too!”

“Watch your tone when you speak to me! I’m still your mother! Both of you!”

“You’re not my mother, and you won’t be a grandmother to my baby either!” Isa promised, eyes bloodshot.

Although I was hurt, I remained silent. My pain was no match for Isa’s. One thing was for sure; our family would never be the same again.

“Isa, I don’t know how to tell you how sorry I am. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

“That won’t be anytime soon.”

“I can respect that. I will give you your space. Just know that I love you. I love both of you.”

Isa’s lip began to tremble slightly as the corners of her eyes dampened. “Get the fuck out!”

She was small in stature and loud in volume. A tear fell from her left eye as her voice turned angry. More tears of anger, embarrassment, and frustration followed as she looked at me. “Imani, get everyone out of here!”
