She rolled her eyes and hugged him, muttering in Spanish about how much she loved him, then Mia shoved her aside and did the exact same thing. We caught the tail end of Alex explaining it to Rio, and all he did was shrug and go back to his coloring like it didn’t change a thing.
Because it didn’t.
Jago was still the same young man they all knew and loved, and not one of them acted like it was a negative thing. I was proud of them.
But not as proud as I was of Jago. “Alright, guys. That’s enough excitement for one night, yeah? Go to bed. We’ll talk more tomorrow.”
“My bossy man, huh?” Mia pulled me along toward the stairs and didn’t talk again until her door was closed. “You knew, didn’t you?”
I nodded, pulling her in to kiss her forehead. “I knew. He told me the day he got in that fight with Diego. It just wasn’t my secret to tell.”
She clung to me for a moment, then smiled up at me. “Thank you. I love you.”
“I love you too.” I fisted a hand in her hair to keep her head tilted back and kissed her deeply, full of promise and hope, then kissed the tip of her nose. “Now come on. I definitely want to be the little spoon tonight.”
