“Good girl.” Graves presses a kiss to my forehead before whispering in my ear.
“I might be willing to share with these guys, but the thought of anyone else getting to see you come undone makes me want to go on a killing spree.”
I step up onto my tiptoes and kiss him softly, melting into him when he grabs my hips and tugs me closer.
“Nobody is going to see me, I promise. Now let’s toss this food before you cave and eat it. Then we can fuel up on what we brought with us. I know we are all pent-up with anticipation, but we have no idea how this is all going to play out. Because of that, I just want to spend some time with you guys, doing nothing but enjoying each other’s company.”
“Why do I feel like you are preparing for the worst?” Vega frowns and tosses the bags of food in the trash.
I sigh and head over to the sofa once more, sitting in the middle with my legs tucked up underneath me.
“It’s not that. We will win. All of us will be walking away, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have an impact on all of us. The people we walk out as might differ vastly from the people we walk in as.”
“I get what you’re saying, Mal, I really do. But as long as we get to go home with you, I’m pretty sure we can combat anything,” Vega promises me.
Hands massage my shoulders, trying to loosen some of the tension building there.
I look up at Law, who is leaning over me.
“You have to have faith. We all do. Walking away and leaving you four to face this alone is killing me. But I know if anyone can win this, it’s you. You all fight like you were born to fight as a team.
“You move as one, anticipating each other’s needs without even needing to speak a word. I’ve watched you all with nothing short of awe these last few months. Do you honestly think I’d let you all go through with this if I had any doubts?”
He leans down and places a kiss on my forehead.
“Fight hard, fight dirty, and show them all why they call you Malice. Everything else, we’ll figure out later.”
