Primal (Alpha Brotherhood 2)
We were wrong.
Ravenrath wasn’t their central location. It was somewhere else, somewhere bigger with more resources and more wealth and a far bigger population of Cult members than we had ever imagined.
Below the city of Ravenrath was a tunnel, dug a long time ago connecting it to what was their real center of operations.
That night, I was taken to Kingsworth.
I didn’t go alone. There was a small group of omega women with me. They were some of the most beautiful I’d ever seen, and they were all silent. If I had to guess, they were likely daughters of the wealthiest and highest standing members of society, prizes to be auctioned off to supporters of the Cult as a way to fund their grisly activities. I could see the fear in their eyes, and I shivered, imagining the terrible things that would induce that kind of terror.
The moment we’d gone underground, my clothes had been torn from my body. My weapons had been found and confiscated within seconds of being stripped. I tried to cover myself, but it didn’t matter. I was completely exposed, and they offered nothing in return.
We’d all stood there in a group, guarded by at least a dozen Cult members that carried guns and knives and all manner of other things. The stone rattled above us, knocking off small pebbles that littered the floor and I anxiously looked up, praying to the gods that the ground wouldn’t collapse and bury us alive.
The ground was cold, and a damp chill crept into my body no matter how much I tried to chase it away. I rubbed my arms with my hands, trying to drum up enough friction to warm myself up, but it didn’t work.
I jumped when a series of loud explosions echoed above us. The cultists started whispering worriedly between themselves and I attempted to listen in on their conversation. All I was able to catch were mutterings of liquid fire and kings and the coming together of an army in the north. Another detonation above ground reverberated through the rock and several of the cultists looked up anxiously. They wanted to get out of here as much as I did.
When a few more Cult members joined the group, they finally ushered us forward into the darkness. One man with a torch took the lead and the rest shuttled us in between the remaining cultists.
“Move!”
The other women stumbled ahead, and I meekly followed.
It was the beginning of what would be an incredibly long journey. One I hoped that I would come out of alive.
The End
