Hate Mates (The Alpha Shifter)
Landon didn’t stop there. He slowly let her down from her release high, kissing her nub, and then moved up her body. His face glistened in the moonlight, and she cupped his face in her hands.
“You tasted amazing,” Landon said.
Alexa didn’t know what had happened to them, but she knew there was no going back.
Maybe, just maybe, she didn’t hate him quite as much as she originally thought.

After sleeping in the forest overnight and then waking up naked together, Landon and Alexa had no choice but to find their clothes and head into town. They held hands as they did so, and he knew the pack stared at them.
They wore the same clothes from two days ago. They were covered in dirt from the forest. And he had no doubt in his mind, after last night, they smelled like each other.
The pack noticed them holding hands, and they pointed at them before whispering.
Alexa had great hearing, and she chuckled. “They’re wondering if we have gone mad or if the power of the moon has brought us together. Some are talking about the cuffs.”
“Yeah, and none of them can believe that we might actually like each other.”
“I imagine after twenty years of us hating each other, they have to believe in miracles rather than us.”
He tightened his grip on her hand as they made their way toward the town hall. This was where his father always was. Sometimes, Alexa’s dad was there, and their mothers, but not all the time.
Landon hoped both of their parents were there so they didn’t have to do this a second, third, or fourth time between their parents.
Entering the town hall, he saw all of their parents were there, along with several of the pack. He recognized the main hunters. The ones they used to help find missing wolves, or children, and sometimes even humans who had stepped off a trail and might be in danger.
His father took the respect and reputation of the town seriously.
Landon held Alexa’s hand as they all turned toward them.
“Hi…” He didn’t know exactly how to address his father. He bowed his head. “Alpha.”
Alexa did the same.
“Where the hell have you two been?” Marcel asked.
Landon sensed his advancement.
Alexa wasn’t shaking, and neither was he.
“We didn’t go far,” Landon said, lifting his head.
“Damn it, son, you had me worried.”
He didn’t sound exactly worried, which made Landon wonder if he’d been right from the start and his father had planned for this to happen.
Wrapping an arm around Alexa’s waist, he pulled her close and stared at his father.
“Alexa and I, we want to renegotiate the cuffs,” Landon said.
Gertie, Penelope, and Dan all came forward.
“There is going to be no renegotiation. You failed. You shouldn’t have run away.”
“We didn’t go far,” Landon said.
“No, we didn’t. We just … needed some time to be together.” Alexa rested her head on his chest. “Like everyone needs with their mate.”
