He has me lying on my stomach on the bed while he takes an ice cube and runs it over my back. I said I was hot, and that was his solution, alternating the flow of ice cubes and kisses on my skin.

To look at us, naked in this bed, indulging in each other, no one would think we were anything but lovers. I don’t want to think about anything else that’s not part of the fantasy.

“You’re zoning out on me again,” he states. His voice cuts into my thoughts, and I shuffle to face him and smile.

“No, I’m still here.”

“Good, stay in the fantasy with me…” he says, planting a kiss on my shoulder. Then he moves toward my lips, and I kiss him.

It’s a brief kiss because he grabs another ice cube and runs it over my shoulder. It feels amazing against the heat.

It’s always so hot in Chicago at this time of year, but I get the feeling it’s hot like sin in here because of us. The sexual heat rippling from us is insane. Just looking at him arouses me, and I miss his cock inside me.

I scan over his hard body, and he smiles at me, knowing I love what I see to no end.

I absolutely do. He doesn’t look like a boy anymore. He looks like a man.

The only boyish things about him are his dimples and his locks that hang over his eye in a truly sexy way. That’s it. The dimples come out when he smiles, but even they look sexy. His hair is messy from my hands in it all night.

His body has changed completely. He looks tougher, his muscles are more defined, and he has more tattoos than he had last time. There’s a hawk and a Celtic cross on his left pec. I remember those—I went with him to get them. To add to them, he has a host of Japanese characters.

In the mix of tattoos is the one he first got. My name inked over his heart. It’s still there. I always wondered if he kept it or had it removed. I don’t have any tattoos, but I always wanted one.

My gaze travels to a scar near his hip that I’m pretty sure is the remnant of a gunshot wound.

I reach out and touch it, and he stills. Running my finger over it and getting a closer look now makes me certain it’s what I think it is. He sees me looking and stops running the ice over me.

I sit up and face him.

“What happened? You were shot.”

“Part of the job, baby. You can’t go on the missions I went on and not come out with some kind of bruising.” He gives me a wide grin.

“That’s not just a bruise. Bruising is what you get when you slip and fall over in the shower, or when you fall over in the street.”

His smile turns into a laugh. “Okay, it’s a little more than bruising. The bullet just grazed me. I was fine. I was only down for a few weeks while I healed.”

I can’t believe that happened to him and I didn’t know.

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. It’s actually nothing compared to what could have happened to me. My mom completely freaked out. She wanted to fly over and stay with me.”

I can imagine that. Elaine loved Paul to no end. She loved me too. She still messages from time to time, and she always gets me a present for my birthday and at Christmas.

“Did she?”

“No, no way in hell was I going to have my mom fussing over me in a war zone, or any kind of zone.” He grins

He pulls me onto his lap, and I slip my arms around him. Our skin touching, pressing together feels nice. He holds me and strokes over the edge of my waist, causing a flutter of butterflies to flitter through my stomach.

I gaze deeply into his eyes.

“You did good, Paul… I’m glad you went to the marines and got to do all you did. Lieutenant. It’s good.”

“Thank you. It’s something I guess I can tick off my list.”

“That’s a good list. I guess working for my dad’s next.”
