Falling for Jillian Ashley: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance

Sally recalled how she felt when Amy first told her about being forced to take a vacation and that she was planning on going to Frisco. She’d been a little disappointed. Disappointed that suddenly, they would have to press Pause on this fledgling relationship of theirs while Amy was nearly five-hundred miles away.

Of course, she’d have gotten over it, Sally realized. That week or so while Amy was gone would have passed and most likely they would have picked up right where they left off when Amy returned. But now she had the opportunity to ignore the Pause button altogether.

Besides, she was tired of being Sensible Sally. She really liked Amy and the idea of getting out of Carlsbad with her was exciting. Oh, and going to San Francisco had the added benefit of her not missing out on their incredible sex life! Sex with Amy, Sally had thought more than once, was like a drug and she was a full-blown addict by now.

“Let’s do it,” she stated and was instantly rewarded with that gorgeous smile of Amy’s.

“Really?”

“Really!”

“Yay!” Amy clapped her hands and then leaned across the table to give Sally a quick kiss. “So, I know it’s short notice and all…will you be able to get the time off?”

With a dismissive wave of her hand, Sally indicated that that was a non-problem. She told Amy that she had plenty of vacation time available and that as it turns out, this was the perfect time to use some of it because her team’s projects were not only running smoothly but she had trusted lieutenants she could delegate responsibilities to in her absence.

“Oh my god, we have soooooo much planning to do!” Amy enthused and Sally had to laugh because Amy’s enthusiasm was infectious and also because Sally could just tell that Amy loved anything that would get her in front of her laptop doing something.

“It’s kind of like online shopping, when you think about it,” Sally suggested. “Finding the best airline to use; finding the best hotel with all the right amenities…”

“Totally!”

After they had finished eating, they got to work.

They decided on a Saturday-to-Saturday trip, catching a flight out of San Diego this coming weekend. That portion of the planning was a piece of cake. They were able to easily secure two roundtrip tickets on a major carrier and the best part was, because the airlines were still reeling from the pandemic’s effect on travel, Sally and Amy were able to buy first-class seats both ways for reasonable prices.

The matter of where they would stay was a little more complicated. Amy told Sally about her preference of staying right in the downtown area, which Sally was completely on board with. What was the point of traveling to such a magnificent city if they were going to stay anywhere but in the magnificent city? The problem was, there were so many hotels to choose from. However, after talking about it and each woman coming up with a list of must-have amenities (wi-fi for Amy; a balcony for Sally), and determining their budget—which was pretty high considering they were two single women with well-paying jobs and absolutely zero financial dependents (Lena hardly counted)—they agreed on an upscale Hyatt hotel in the Embarcadero district. Not only did it have wi-fi but they splurged on a suite which faced the water and had a balcony. Sally was already imagining spending lovely evenings on it, in a bathrobe, sipping wine and looking out over the harbor.

With their flight and hotel arrangements squared away, Sally was certain their planning was done. Besides, it was almost ten o’clock and the only screen Sally wanted to continue looking at was the one on her Kindle while she read herself to sleep. But Amy insisted on staying up a little longer, wanting to find out what current exhibitions the art museums were showing and also wanting to make reservations for them at some of Frisco’s nicest restaurants. She even talked about planning some boating excursions for them.

“All of that tonight?” Sally had asked, surprised, getting to her feet to head to the bedroom, her own laptop already closed. “It’s practically ten o’clock!”

“It won’t take long,” Amy promised, not looking up from her laptop’s screen.

Sally crossed her arms and looked down at Amy who was sitting on the floor in front of her laptop which was resting on Sally’s coffee table. She suddenly flashbacked to the other day, when she had left Amy’s apartment with Amy sitting on her floor, her laptop on her coffee table and that high-octane, ought-to-be-illegal-in-all-fifty-states Amy’s Jet Fuel drink beside her.

“Babe!” Sally said sternly.

Amy looked up at her.

Sally decided to soften her approach.

“Babe,” she said less sternly, “you can either do that or we can both drift off to sleep together after having made each other come. Choose now.”

Amy’s mouth dropped open but Sally was gratified to see lust cloud those chocolate-brown eyes of hers.

Sally smiled.

“Now, close your laptop,” she ordered.

Amy did.

“Stand up.”

Amy stood.

“Let’s go to bed,” Sally said, holding out her hand for Amy to take.
