Sold to Him

“Yes, of course, sir,” she says without any hesitation. “As you like.”

“Thank you, Celeste.”

“My pleasure, sir.” I hang up without speaking again, my thoughts already buzzing back to the beautiful girl with the sensuous curves. I need her. I want her. I have to have her. And something in my gut tells me this is only the beginning of my madness.

Chapter 5

Trina

It’s morning again, and I feel so good. So satisfied and decadent. Sunlight from a high window pours down around the bed, splashing the room with light and bathing it in a warm glow. This is so luxurious, and not what I’m used to at all.

Is this the way rich women feel all the time?

A groan leaves my mouth as I roll over in the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in my life. Soft sheets, a mattress that isn’t too firm or too soft, and big enough for me to spread all the way across without my legs dangling over the edge. It’s sheer heaven. The nightie I’ve got on stretches over my boobs and hugs my every curve.

Oh god, even this feels so good. So sexy. Just like the way Grayson Knight touched me yesterday. A shiver ripples through my body and my nipples get hard at the thought of his mouth on them, his long and masculine fingers between my legs, making me come.

“Grayson.” I whisper his name out loud and slowly blink up at the luxurious ceiling with a painting of a pair of swans, one black and one white, floating across a peaceful river.

How did this even happen to me?

Yesterday after I met with Mr. Knight, I was all set to go home and wait. But then, the woman showing me out got a phone call and turned to me with a strange look. “Mr. Knight would like to see you again tomorrow,” she says, a miniscule frown on her otherwise beautiful face. “Are you available?”

“Um, yes?” I say, already thinking of the possible white lies I could tell Nana for tomorrow’s trip to the city. “What time should I come back tomorrow?”

“No, that’s not it,” she clarifies. “He wants you to stay here overnight. Once you’re well-rested tomorrow morning, he will see you again.”

Oh my gosh. I bite my lip, not sure if I should say what immediately comes to my mind—the cost of staying in Manhattan is sky-high, and there’s no way I can afford it. Although I’m poor and desperate, I didn’t want to seem poor and desperate. But I finally spit it out—there was no way around it. “I…I don’t have any money to stay overnight in the city,” is my embarrassed whisper. “I’m sorry.”

Faint but well-plucked blonde brows lifted as if I’d just spoken alien gibberish. “Of course not. You’ll be staying here in one of our rooms,” she says. “Don’t worry. We’ll pay to keep you where we want you.”

My brows crinkle. What was that supposed to mean?

“Oh…okay.” And that was that. I needed the job more than I needed my pride. Plus, the thought of making six figures caused my head to whirl. Just for spending time with a millionaire who might look like Grayson Knight? That should be easy, especially if I got to be in Grayson’s intoxicating company again. And, a naughty part of me whispered, especially if he touched and stroked me like he did just now.

But that night, I had to tell Nana that I wasn’t getting on the train and heading back home to the Bronx. I squirm, remembering the worry in her voice.

“You’re not coming home tonight?” Nana asked me.

I had to keep my voice light so she wouldn’t suspect anything. “Yes, I’m interviewing in a different city,” I fibbed, recalling the pathetic excuse I thought of on the way to my room. “They want me to meet more people who work here, so they’ve extended my interview.”

Even through the phone, I could hear Nana frowning, but then again, Nana never worked a corporate job so she didn’t know how these things were supposed to go.

“Okay, Trina,” Nana said to me softly, the worry in her voice still there but a little less intense. My stomach flipped and flopped from lying to her, but I told myself once I got the money from this job, it would be worth it to see the relief and joy on her face.

“Sorry, Nana,” I said, guilt spreading throughout my whole body. “I’ll be back as soon as it’s over.”

“Take care, sweetheart,” she said to me finally. A voice chirped like a little bird’s from the background. “Oh, here’s Mickey. He wants to tell you something.”

“Trina!” My little brother came on the phone and immediately started coughing. My heart cracked wide open listening to him. “We missed you for dinner,” he croaked at the end of his fit. Then he cleared his throat and said the words again, trying desperately to seem like a big and healthy boy just for me. He knows I worry about him like crazy.
