I couldn’t think about it anymore.

We were going on a trip.

All Nikolay said before he left the room this morning was for me to pack a small bag.

I was all ready to go, and now there was nothing to do but to dwell on my thoughts.

I capped the lipstick and, taking one last look at my reflection, walked out of the bathroom.

The door to the room opened just as I crossed over the threshold, and Damien walked in, dressed in one of his suits that seemed to mold perfectly to his large frame.

This one was dark gray paired with a black tie and black shoes.

His hair was buzzed down to his scalp. He’d recently gotten it shaved.

He looked menacing. Powerful and so beautiful, my lungs constricted in pain just looking at him.

One corner of his lips lifted up in a small smirk.

“Don’t look at me like that, pet. We have to leave soon.”

I quickly averted my eyes, eliciting a small chuckle from him.

He came up to me, and I had to stop myself from talking one step back. I wondered if there would ever be a time when their very mere presence didn’t overwhelm me so badly.

I could feel his unnerving gaze on me, and I tried not to look at him. I didn’t want to give away too much of how I was feeling, but I felt him pause beside me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

I looked up and met his eyes briefly before looking back down, shaking my head and offering a small smile I didn’t feel.

I grabbed my bag from the bed and tugged on his hand, pulling him out of the room so he couldn’t ask me any more questions. I didn’t know what he was thinking, but he let me pull him out of there.

We met Mikhail and Nikolay downstairs in the foyer.

Gabriel stood off to the side, looking at something on his phone, but he looked up when he heard us, his brown eyes moving over my face.

I tried to compose my expression, but his gaze narrowed on me.

I let go of Damien’s hand and walked over to Mikhail.

“All right, kotyonok?”

I nodded, wishing he would let it go, but then Kirill came into the room. I smiled at the man who worked as a driver and bodyguard for my men. With a huge build, buzzed blond hair, and tattoos that covered every inch of skin on him that I could see—save for his face—he looked like the perfect representation of a Bratva man.

He looked scary, but his eyes were soft when they found mine, and I found my shoulders relaxing a bit.

Nikolay grumbled something under his breath and walked over to me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and pulling me close. I didn’t have to look to know he was shooting Kirill a death stare.

I rubbed his chest.

If only he could read my mind, he would know there was nothing for him to worry about.

Like anyone could ever compare to my three men.

He laid his huge hand on top of mine. My touch seemed to have calmed him down a bit.

“Let’s go,” he said and pulled me out of there before anyone could say anything.
