It Happened One Night
His impassioned words created a longing inside of her stronger than anything she had ever experienced before, and she knew that whether she had realized it or not, she had wanted him since that night, as well. But before she could tell him, he parted her to gently touch the tiny nub nestled within and she suddenly felt as if she would go up in flames. His light teasing strokes and the feel of him testing her readiness for him caused a coil of need to tighten deep in the most feminine part of her, and she couldn’t stop herself from moving restlessly against him.
Wanting to touch him as he touched her, Kiley slowly slid her hand over his chest, then down his rippled abdomen and beyond. When she found him, her heart skipped several beats at the sheer strength of his need. His body went completely still and a groan rumbled up from deep in his chest as she measured his length and girth with her palm, then explored the softness below.
“Kiley…nothing would make me happier…than to have you touch me like this…for the rest of the night,” he said haltingly. When he caught her hands in his, he sounded as if he couldn’t take in enough air. “But I want you so damned much…I’m not going to last…if you keep that up.”
The look in his eyes sent her temperature soaring, and her need for him grew with each passing second. If they didn’t make love soon, she knew for certain she would be reduced to a cinder.
“P-please make love to me, Josh.”
He reached under his pillow, quickly arranged their protection, then kissed her with a passion that caused her head to swim. Before she could fully recover, he held her gaze with his as he nudged her knees apart and rose over her.
“Show me where you want me, Kiley,” he said, taking her hand in his to place it on his hardened body.
Her heart pounded as she guided him to her and she felt his blunt tip slowly begin to enter her. His gaze never wavered from hers as he eased himself forward and she knew she’d never felt more complete than she did at that moment.
“It feels so good to be inside of you,” Josh whispered as he gathered her to him.
Before she could respond, he set a slow pace and Kiley felt as if she were being swept away by the exquisite sensations filling her entire being. Wrapping her arms around his wide shoulders, she held him to her as the coil of need deep within her tightened to the empty ache of unfulfilled desire. But all too soon, she found herself climbing toward the pinnacle, and apparently sensing that she was poised on the edge of finding the satisfaction they both sought, Josh quickened the pace of his lovemaking.
Heat and light flashed behind her tightly closed eyes as she was suddenly set free from the tension holding her captive. Waves of pleasure flowed over her and Kiley had to cling to Josh to keep from being consumed by the exquisite intensity of it all. He thrust into her one final time, then, groaning her name, he joined her in the all-encompassing pleasure of mutual release. As they slowly drifted back to reality it felt as if their souls had been united to become one, and she knew beyond a shadow of doubt that if she hadn’t already done so, she was close to losing her heart to the man holding her so securely in his arms.
“You’re amazing, honey,” he said, kissing her until they both gasped for air.
“That was…breathtaking,” she murmured, still trying to come to terms with her newfound realization.
Levering himself to her side, he pulled her close. “Are you all right?”
Deciding there would be plenty of time to analyze her feelings for him later, she kissed his chin. “‘All right’ doesn’t begin to describe how incredible I feel right now, Josh.”
She felt his body stir against her leg a moment before a wicked grin appeared on his handsome face. “That’s good, because I’m going to spend the rest of the night reminding you of just how incredible we are together.”
And to her utter delight, he did just that.

The following Monday afternoon, Kiley gathered some festive paper and a memory stick. “Carrie, will you and Lea be able to watch the children until I get back? I need to walk down to the administrative office to get the programs printed for the Christmas show tomorrow.”
“Sure thing.” Carrie nodded toward the children sleeping on colorful mats on the floor. “They should nap for another thirty minutes or so. Lea and I can just start story hour a little early if you aren’t back when they wake up,” she added, referring to the volunteer Kiley hoped to add as a paid staff member after the first of the year.
Nodding, Kiley headed for the door. “I shouldn’t be too long.”
