It Happened One Night
“Are we going to tell Emmie?” she asked.
“No. We can tell her later, after we’ve talked to your folks. I know they’re going to have a lot of tough questions about my being Emmie’s father and how that all came about.” He kissed the top of her head. “But we’ll do that together.”
“Will you go with me to their place on Christmas Day?” she asked.
He nodded. “We can go to Midland to see your parents and on the way back home, we can stop by and tell my brother that we’re going to be a family. But right now, I have something else in mind.” He chuckled as he closed the corral gate behind them. “And standing in the middle of a barnyard isn’t exactly the place I want to do it.”
“You’re incorrigible, Josh Gordon,” she said, laughing with him.
“No, honey. I’m a man in love with the most desirable woman on the planet,” he said, pulling her back into his arms for another kiss.
“I love you, Josh,” she said softly.
“And I love you, Kiley.” Grinning, he took her hand in his. “Now let’s go inside the house and get started planning our life together.”
