Always Mine (Roommate Duet 5)

« Prev  Chapter  Next »

I want just one night when neither of us has to hold back. However, I’ve had the best two weeks of my life. We kiss, lick, and suck each other—everything except sex. Then when we’re both sated and relaxed, he holds me. We talk and laugh until I fall asleep, and I never want this to end. I’ve waited so long to have Liam like this and hate that we have to keep it from everyone, but I’m not taking a second for granted. Liam’s always been mine, and I won’t let another woman keep us apart.

Speaking of which…shit.

Quickly, I shove Liam off me and scowl. He immediately looks butt hurt, and when I widen my eyes and tilt my head around, he finally gets it.

The mob could be watching us right now.

Liam hands me one bag while he takes six.

Overachiever.

“Go shower and get ready,” Sophie tells me as soon as I enter the kitchen. “Lennon’s meeting us for lunch in an hour.”

This is news to me.

“Everything okay?” I ask, unloading items.

“Yeah! I want to tell you both at the same time about the wedding plans we’ve come up with,” she states over cheerful.

An hour and a half later, the three of us are sitting in Frenchie’s Cafe, laughing and telling stories of Sophie as a child. Even though she’s the oldest, Lennon and I have many memories of us playing house and Sophie being the mom. She’d stuff a pillow under her shirt and pretend to be pregnant with triplets.

It started with Sophie talking about the wedding, and then I brought up an embarrassing story that I planned to say during my bridesmaid speech. When I was done, Lennon added another embarrassing one. Now, Sophie’s threatening us with our lives if we repeat them.

“Oh come on,” I say, laughing. “You were cute waddling with your preggo pillow belly. Who knew Lennon would be the one who keeps popping out babies? When’s the third coming?” I ask, then take a sip of my drink.

“Hey, let me get one out before you’re begging her for another,” Sophie interjects.

“Yes, thank you! It was hard enough to get pregnant with Aaron, so we’re not putting any pressure on having baby number three. Although we’re not using protection, so you never know.” She grins, then blushes when we both gasp.

Sophie talks more about their plans to get married this December in the mountains of Tahoe City where Mason proposed. She wants a Christmas-themed wedding, which actually sounds super romantic. It’ll be close friends and family only, but that still means at least a hundred guests.

Just as we stand to leave, Lennon reminds Sophie to be over tonight by seven.

“Tonight? Why?” I ask.

“Mason and I are babysitting,” Sophie responds.

“And it’s our first overnight without Aaron, so I’m nervous,” Lennon adds. Aaron was born in March, so he’s only four months old.

“Don’t be nervous! We’ve got it!” Sophie reassures her, but all I hear is that Liam and I are going to have the house to ourselves.

Alone.

“Where are you going?” I ask as we all walk out of the cafe.

“Spending a night at a fancy hotel where we’ll eat dinner while it’s still hot and actually be able to hold a conversation without a child screaming and throwing food,” Lennon says, grinning. “I’ll miss the kids, but Hunter and I need this. Quickies in the shower become hazardous after a while.”

I blush instantly at the image of Liam and me in the shower a couple of weeks ago when Sophie came home from work early. Sophie gives me a weird look, but I quickly giggle at Lennon’s story.

“So basically, Mason and Sophie are watching the kids so you can get laid,” I blurt out.

“Yep.” Lennon snaps her fingers. “Though it’s more likely that we’ll be passed out by nine o’clock.”

Sophie and I laugh, then exchange hugs and goodbyes with Lennon before walking to her car. We get inside, and she zooms down the street like she’s racing every vehicle that pulls up beside her.

“So are you dead set on cherry red for the bridesmaids’ dresses?” I ask once we’re halfway home. “I look really good in black. Just saying.” I smirk as I type out a text to Liam.

Maddie: The adults are gonna be gone tonight. Don’t make plans.

Liam: Fuck. I better cancel those strippers then.

Maddie: Why? They can watch.

Liam: That’s an odd kink, but I’m not arguing ;) I’ll get Diamond & Starr here ASAP!

“What are you giggling about over there?” Sophie interrupts, and I quickly lock my phone.

“Nothing, just texting a friend.” I frown at how fast the half-lie comes out.

“So, whatever happened to that hot officer guy? The one you went out with a couple of weekends ago?”

“Oh, Blake…” I pause, trying to find the right words because I can’t tell her the real reason. “He’s texted me a few times since then, but honestly, I just wasn’t feeling it. So I let him down easy.”
