Nanny with Benefits
Damon handed me the stroller and scooped her up in his arms. He kissed Alexis on her rosy-red cheek. She giggled and pushed at Damon’s face with her mittens. “Dada, stop it. It tickles.”
“We should have a photo for the album,” he said.
“We all need to be in it. Our first family picture,” I replied.
Damon called over a zoo attendant, who said she’d be happy to take a photo. Damon set his cell phone to the camera and then handed it to her. I lifted Devin from his stroller as we stood with our backs to the tigers. The attendant lifted the phone as we all smiled.
“Okay, watch the birdies,” she said. She took a photo. “Okay, one more. One. Two. Three.”
She handed the camera back to Damon. He scrolled through the pictures. The images said precisely what we all thought and felt.
We were definitely one big, happy family. I pinched myself to make sure it wasn’t all a dream. It wasn’t!
