Back To You - A Second Chance Romance
When she whispered in my ear, “Come inside of me.” I completely lost it.
Obliging her was instant, and as I filled her up, I ground my hips, claiming her as mine and knowing no one else would ever have her.
“Can I ask you something?” I asked, knowing that I might regret it later. The burning question had been on my mind for ten years.
“Anything,” she said.
“Am I the only one?”
She got a little pink around the cheeks. “In all of these years, yes. I’ve never cared about anyone enough to go this far.”
I closed my eyes and held her still on me, still buried deep. “That makes me happy. I don’t want anyone else to ever have you. You’re my girl. Always have been.”
“I’m glad I waited. It’s not like I haven’t had other chances, but you’re the only one I’ve ever really loved, Jake. I am so glad I found you not only once, but twice in my life.” She made me feel like the luckiest man in the world.
All I could do was kiss her. She was so beautiful, and I was a fool to have ever driven away from her. For whatever reason, fate knew we’re supposed to be together, and I was grateful.
As the kiss broke, I rested my forehead against hers. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever truly loved, Kate. I hope you know that.” I hated that I couldn’t say I’d been as faithful to my past as she had. I had only been with others trying to get her off of my mind and out of my head, but that was all just wasted energy. She wasn’t ever going to be a memory to me again, not if I could help it.
“I can’t believe that we just made love in my office,” she said, her cheeks reddening.
“We had better get dressed before this becomes another scandal.” I moved back, and she gathered her panties and bra.
I put my cock away and zipped up as I watched her, and somehow, seeing her dressing was just as hot as watching her get naked. She was my true angel.
“What’s next? Do you have to make your statement? How do you even do that?”
“I’ll call a press conference tomorrow from the stage and just tell it like it is. I’ll inform the public that we’re in love, and we’re a couple. Let them argue with that. I’ll also say that the Arthur Scott article was slanderous and that I’m going to sue his pants off.”
“Are you?”
“Oh yeah. He needs to be stopped, and maybe that’s just the hit he needs to his ego.”
“What about Roxie?” she asked. “Worth your time?”
“I’m sure I’ll put the fear of God in her with some sort of reprimand. One thing is for sure. She won’t be working for craft services any longer. She’ll be lucky to see another production. And sadly, that thirty grand Arthur paid her? Well, it’s not going to last forever.”
“Thirty grand.” She shook her head. “How much did you give the university?” She narrowed her eyes at me.
I was glad I had been wise enough to invest more into the future of others. “One hundred thousand, and I also set up a scholarship for promising students. It seemed only fitting, and who knows? Maybe somewhere in the country, there’s another girl who is as determined as you and a man like me who had a thing for second chances.”
She giggled. “Maybe, but none are as lucky as me.” She moved closer and kissed me again. “So, what are we going to tell them?”
“We? You mean the press conference?”
“Yeah. Did you think I’d make you do it alone? We’re in this together, Jake. You and me forever.” She gave me a sideward look. “You do want forever, don’t you?”
“And ever,” I said with reassurance. “Don’t you ever forget it.” I pulled her close, kissing her again. I would never get enough.
Later that day, we showed up on the movie lot, and even though a few heads were turning, no one made a big deal about Kate being on the set. I walked her to the office where Ben was sitting down with Tony Troy.
Both of them looked surprised to see us together. “Jake. Kate.” Tony turned his eyes away from Kate as if he wasn’t going to make the mistake of ogling her again.
“I’m just here to let you know that I’ve called a press conference,” I said. “I told them to meet down the hall.”
“Well, I hope you’re prepared to get things settled once and for all. I had to cancel production today, and well, that’s why Tony is here. You’re being fined.”
“I know. I already spoke to the head of the studio, and I am fully prepared to take responsibility.”
Ally walked past us into the office. “The press is ready,” she said to Ben and Tony, barely giving us a second look. “I told them that you were prepared to make a statement too.”
