On Point (Out of Uniform 3) - Page 14

And Ben wasn’t the type to hand out false compliments—earning his respect was a worthy mission. The guy was clearly up for the challenge, starting a fast rhythm with deep bobs of his head, cheeks hollowing on each upstroke.

“Fuck. So amazing, baby. That’s it. Take it all.” Ben’s dirty talk wasn’t even something Maddox had realized he craved until that instant. Ben’s voice was a deep rumble, taking full command of the situation, and his eyes returned to Maddox’s, every bit as demanding as his words.

“Like putting on a show?” Ben asked. The other guy growled, redoubling his efforts. “Yeah, you do, don’t you? Gonna get me off, way you’re going. You want that?”

“Mmm.” The man’s hum vibrated through Maddox, made his cock twitch in his pants. Yes, yes, he wanted that too. Wanted to see Ben come, wanted to watch every bit as much as he wanted to be the one on his knees. This was one of his most secret desires come to life, and no way in heck was he moving.

Ben moaned, long and low, and Maddox might have echoed him. His control over himself was gone, every sound and sight undoing him further.

“That’s it. Suck hard. Love it when you do that.” Ben’s hand tangled in the guy’s fluffy hair. Maddox rubbed the base of his own neck, wanting that steady pressure to be on him, wanting to know the strength of Ben’s grip. “So good.”

Ben’s hips started rocking up to meet the man’s eager mouth, and Maddox’s whole body tightened, anticipating. Wanting. Needing.

He knew the instant Ben came because Ben finally dropped his gaze from Maddox’s face, his eyes shutting, face squishing up as he groaned and cursed. Obscene slurping sounds echoed through the room.

“Unngh.” Maddox did moan aloud that time, no denying it. Hand moving of its own volition, he pressed hard against his groin. Need. He needed—

“Come here.” Ben’s words were slurred and his eyes were still shut. And Maddox wasn’t sure whether he meant Maddox or the other guy. Other guy. Oh what the heck was he doing? He couldn’t go in there. But he wanted—

“You like that?” Ben asked.

Yes. The word was right on tip of Maddox’s tongue, but the guy on his knees answered first. “Hell yeah. My turn now.”

Not mine. Shame at having intruded and desire for more warred in Maddox’s gut as Ben hauled his companion up onto his lap. Every last one of those stupid, messy feelings bubbled to the surface, and Maddox’s feet finally decided to work, beating a hasty retreat to his room, heart hammering. He shut the door, locking it—something he’d never done once since Ben started living there. Collapsing against the wall, Maddox’s breath came in harsh bursts. What had he done?

Present

“Careful now.” Ben’s voice cut through Maddox’s memories, hand steadying him as they navigated a fallen branch.

Careful. It was the one thing Ben had never been, the one thing Maddox had forgotten to be that night. Pain that had nothing to do with his injuries stabbed at Maddox. He wasn’t sure their friendship had ever recovered from his own stupidity. Oh it wasn’t stupid to have threesomes—or wrong, really. But that wasn’t how Maddox acted, wasn’t how he conducted himself, and it sure as heck hadn’t done anything to help the jumble of emotions he felt about Ben, only worsening the situation.

And now, if they were going to get out of this thing alive, Maddox had to pack away all these confounding memories and annoying-as-hell emotions and focus on the ground in front of him.

Chapter Five

Ben tried to make the way through the dense jungle easier for Maddox—holding vines aside for him, choosing steps that wouldn’t challenge him and his makeshift crutches. Fucking shoulder. He should be able to carry Maddox, but instead he was stuck with a barely functioning left side and ribs that continued to ache like he’d taken a dozen hard tackles.

They hadn’t spoken much since bickering about Maddox’s re-up paperwork, which was probably for the best as seething wasn’t going to get them out of the rainforest alive. Behind him, Maddox inhaled sharply, a pained sound that went straight to Ben’s chest.

“Need a break?” Ben whispered.

“Nah.” Maddox grunted out the word “I’m—”

“Sssh.” Ben cut him off with a firm hiss as a weird rumble came from a distance away, a low vibration that cut past the hum of insects and the dripping of leaves—could be birds chattering or monkeys playing, but these sounds filtering through the foliage seemed more deliberate. “Is it voices?” he mouthed at Maddox. Decade plus of working together meant he knew Maddox could read his lips, if not his mind.

Maddox strained, cocking his head in the direction of the noise. He nodded sharply.

Ben opened his mouth to make the bird call signal, but Maddox held up his hand. “Not ours,” he said without volume. “Not English.”
