Megan returned to her side when the last family had given her their flower.
“I still am overwhelmed you did this for me. I don’t know what to say.”
“Tell me you will come to my wedding.”
“I would love to,” Jena answered, doubting she could. To keep her own family safe, she had to keep moving, running. “When is it?”
“Day after tomorrow.”
“What? You’re kidding.”
“Nope. I’m so excited. You will come, won’t you?”

“Of course. How in the world did you pull this off when your own wedding is so soon?”
Megan pointed to some of the women around the room. “I had help, Jena. One thing I’ve learned since coming to Destiny, you’re never alone. I have my guys and I also have my dear, sweet friends.” Megan took her hands and squeezed. “I’d like us to be friends, too.”
“Me, too.” I wish it was possible but it isn’t.
The band fired up a song.
Matt and Sean led her to the ballroom. The floor was packed with people dancing. Along the walls were tables of delicious food. No one had ever done anything like this for her.
Megan and her men had thrown her this party even after all she’d done to their company.
Matt and Sean spun her around the dance floor until she was out of breath. What a night. One she would never forget.
“I need to sit for a minute,” she told them.
“Do you want something to drink?” Sean asked her.
“Just a glass of water, please.”
Matt leaned down and kissed her on the cheek. “I’ll bring us some food to nibble on. The Knights always put out the best spread.”
“You guys spoil me.”
“Our pleasure, sweetheart,” he said.
Sean nodded and stroked her hair. “Yes, it is our pleasure. Every second of it.” He scanned the room. “You’ll be safe here.”
“I agree.” Matt’s gaze circled the space, too. “Only Destonians present.”
“I’m not helpless, fellows.” She patted her purse. “I have my own gun.”
“She’s a tough one, our girl, isn’t she?” Sean asked Matt.
“Very true. Let’s go. She’ll be ready to scoot her boots when we get back.”
Jena watched them walk to get food and drink.
Reaching into her purse, she pulled out the burner phone and dialed her mom.
As much as she would love to stay in Destiny with Matt and Sean, she knew that was an impossible dream. Leaving would be hard. She’d already told them everything. They would understand why she had to go. Staying in one place for too long would be dangerous for her, for her mom, and for Kimmie. Carl was still out there, waiting.
