“You can call me God if you want.” I wink, resting my arms behind my head.

She gives me her stink eye, but I see the way she bites her bottom lip to keep from smiling. She wouldn’t mind me being her God at the end of the day.

“You know you can’t be in here.” She tries to act superior, but it doesn’t suit her.

“You know what? You’re right. You should probably punish me,” I say, my tone coy, face serious. She smiles, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

“Unfortunately, lobotomies are considered inhumane.” She raises both her hands, shrugging her shoulders.

“Like that would make a bit of difference anyway.” If anything, it might help my fucked-up head.

“True.” With an exhale, she shuts some cabinets, trying to keep her eyes off me.

“So, what are you ordering for dinner? Tell me you’re getting something good. I can’t stand the shit food here.”

“Last time I brought food in for you, Jacob turned me in for favoritism.”

Sitting forward, I drop my legs to the floor. I wish I could catch that fucker outside these walls, let the club’s way of justice give him the ass whooping he really needs.

“Yeah, but he’s getting released, so like it fucking matters.”

Crossing her arms, she leans against a file cabinet, her mouth twisting into a grimace. “I already said what I had to say about that,” she mutters, mindlessly kicking at some dust on the floor.

“And here I thought you had a say so in who gets out and who stays.” Rubbing my palms together, I look up at her through hooded eyes, playing with her.

“I do.” Her eyes snap to mine, her voice serious.

“Uh huh, then how come I haven’t been released yet, Hailey? You talking shit about me in these little files?” I shove a green folder sitting on the edge of the desk to the floor. My lawyer said he’d get me out of here, yet here I am.

She rolls her eyes, snatching the folder up. “Only when you grab my ass...” Her cherry lips curve at the corners. She secretly likes it.

Standing up, I come within inches of her. Her sweet perfume is cute and floral rather than sexy, and I can’t help but notice the little white hairs from a cat or dog on the collar of her scrubs. She seems so normal and sweet to be working here, I almost feel bad for what I’m about to say, but all’s fair in love and war, right?

“Tell me, Hailey, what did you write in my folder when I bent you over this desk three nights ago and fucked you until you came so hard, your legs gave out?” She sucks in a sharp breath, her body trembling. “I don’t think the doctor would like to know you’re fucking the psychos.”

Her chest rises and falls in quick succession. I can’t tell if it’s because I just blackmailed her or because she wants me to touch her again. “Get me the fuck out of here, Hailey,” I whisper, my tone conveying the threat it’s meant to be. Turning around, I leave her breathless.

“Hey!” she yells. Stopping, I look over my shoulder, giving her my attention. “You know, people with the worst pasts can create the best futures. You can be so much more, Godric.”

Rubbing my chin, I look over the people sitting on the couches in the main room. Her bullshit speech was probably passed down from some training seminar.

“Yeah, I’ll try to keep that in mind next time I black out and kill someone.”

Licking her lips, she glances down with a sullen look before glancing back at me.

“I’m just saying you have potential.”

For some reason, out of all the shit that’s been said to me here, that hits me in the gut.

Godric

Something’s wrong with me. My nights are filled with nightmares. Impulsive thoughts of violence race through my mind randomly. I feel like Bella was just the start of something very dark unleashing inside me. Being here is amplifying it. I’m becoming aware of how fucked up in the head I am. Impulsive thoughts of hurting others and fucking with people’s minds have become more frequently than ever…and I like it.

Loud banging wakes me, and I groan in protest. I don’t fucking eat breakfast, and they know this. Sitting up, I swipe a hand through my hair, ready to fucking throw something. Hailey enters in annoying pink scrubs, pulling a cart behind her. Since when did she deliver the meds?

“You know I won’t take that shit.” Both of my hands on the side of the bed, I dig my nails into the thin mattress.

“And you know I have to give them to you.” Popping her hip out, she holds a little white cup of pills and a Dixie cup of water. I should grab her by the throat and make her eat every fucking pill until she overdoses. My eyes widen from the sudden thought running through my head. It’s shit like this that worries me. I never had thoughts like this before, or maybe I did but didn’t pay attention to them. I don’t know.
