Sexual Affection (Contemporary Cowboys 3) - Page 13

That’s sort of where the fantasy ended. He’d done very little in the way of settling that wild and crazy lust, the need he’d instilled in her was downright criminal. Soon, her desire for him would roar to the surface and she would sound like a man making her demands. Women had desires, too. And if a man didn’t satisfy them, he couldn’t blame her if she started looking somewhere else—like in his brother’s direction as an example.

Zak cupped her neck and kissed her into a state of pu

re arousal without so much as another word between them. He thrust his tongue between her lips, wedging it inside her mouth. One minute, his soft tongue fluttered across hers and the next, he smoothly explored her mouth, deepening their kiss as he passionately embraced her.

“God bless, Zak,” she whispered, pulling away from him and catching her breath.

“What’s the matter now?”

“You!” She walked around his room, noticing the see-through gown she’d worn the night before now neatly folded on the rocking chair next to his bed. She wondered then. Had he held the material to his nose, smelled her perfume and longed for her in a way similar to how she’d longed for him? Had he closed his eyes and pictured her dressed in the gown, imagined how he might have stripped it from her body and made love to her instead of turning her away?

Zak gave her one of those cute little lopsided smiles. “Driving you crazy makes me crazy.”

“Apparently so,” she whispered, frustrated. “I’m not reading you right or maybe I’m the problem here. Either way, you’re driving me mad one minute, and turning me away the next.” Which nearly angered her, but she didn’t bother saying so. Guys didn’t like common teases and she understood why.

He gave her another one of those grins that made her weak in the knees. Her heart melted then. God bless. Did she love this man? Would she do anything to please him?

The answer frightened her.

“You’re not in control. That’s the problem.”

“I don’t…” She stopped.

He cocked his head and arched his brows. “You don’t what?”

“I don’t feel like I need to be in control when I’m with you.”

“You’re sure about that?”

“I don’t know.” She dragged her hands through her straight hair and went to the window, noticing Brandon below. He was standing next to one of the eighteen-wheelers, pitching a fit and shaking his finger at its driver. She wasn’t about to mention it. She didn’t want Zak to abandon her to fix another Blazier dilemma.

Drina went to the bed and sat on the edge of his mattress. Smoothing her palms across the comforter, she asked, “Do you know how long we’ve been together?”

“Let’s see here.” He twisted his lips and acted like he had to really think about it. She rolled her eyes. Of course he didn’t know how long they’d been together. What man would keep up with such nonsense, especially one with the burden of straightening out his family’s once-illegal operations?

“Four months, five days, and a few hours either way.”

She blinked.

“You’re impressed. Admit it.”

“Hmm,” she muttered, convinced now that anything the man said or did would make her want him all the more.

He nodded his head in a take-that fashion and said, “It’s been the best four months, five days, and a few hours either way of my career.”

“Your career?” She twitched her nose.

“My career as a man.” He went to his dresser instead of meeting her at the bed. “Do me a favor and close your eyes.”

“Zak, maybe we should—” She wanted to talk openly and honestly. She didn’t want them to have secrets and she didn’t mind telling him she was attracted to his brother. She’d seen Dallas around for several years and surely he’d mentioned her to Zak, or had he? Had Dallas realized the woman he’d often gaze groped was the woman who spent so much time with his brother?

“Just close your eyes. It’s not as bad as you think.”

“But you said last night that you wanted to make an honest woman out of me.”

“Said it again a few minutes ago, but you won’t give me time to discuss it so now I need to do that.” He waved his fingers in her direction. “Just close your eyes. I promise it will be painless.”

Her heart was fluttering out of sync. She couldn’t believe they’d come this far without a sexual tryst and he was about to propose marriage! She thoughtfully considered what this meant. It meant putting up with his brothers, and she hadn’t even met all of them yet. It would mean combining households. With Gemma spending more time at the McDowells, Brianna already living with the Jacksons, and Coco staying full time at the Blaziers, wouldn’t it make more sense to stay at her place? They would have their privacy and what newlyweds didn’t want time alone?
