“What else?”

“William has a bit of a gambling problem. He’s been working with Preacher Mcguire for over ten years. What’s strange is they were married before the old man kicked the can. At first glance I was thinking he pulled this marriage shit to get a cut of that will but—”

“They were already married. How long before were they married?” I ask, trying to wrap my mind around all of it.

“Right after she turned eighteen.” Fucker. I bet he was counting down those days. Not that I’m any better.

I probably would have been doing the same if I’d met her back then. That would have been damn hard, but I would have done it if it meant I could have found her sooner. Got her out of that damn trailer. I still think I’m fucking lucky nothing happened to her before I got to her. Living out in that thing all alone. My stomach turns thinking about how vulnerable she was.

“I still think he was after the money the whole time,” I say.

“Biding his time for the old man to die one day?”

“I’m thinking he got sick of waiting for that day.” Neil lets out a long whistle. “I want you to look into the clerk that signed off on this marriage license.”

“Already on it.”

“I want you to call my father too.”

“Really?” Neil says in surprise.

“Yeah, really. Whatever gets this shit cleared up fast. I’m not doing all this long, drawn-out shit. I want this all wiped clean.”

“All right. See what I can do.”

“Thanks,” I say before I head back out.

Felicity hops up from her desk when she sees me coming. “I don’t even understand what this spreadsheet is that you have that girl doing.” It doesn’t go unnoticed by me that she calls Savannah that girl.

“You don’t need to understand.”

“But what am I supposed to do with it?” She gapes at me.

“Nothing. Where is lunch?” I’m getting more annoyed by the second with her sudden line of questioning.

“Should be here any second. Are you replacing me? I’m damn good at my job.”

“Never said you weren't, but I’m starting to question it right about now. When have you ever been allowed to get involved with who I hire and my employees?” She’s crossing the line. Felicity is normally on top of her shit and stays the hell out of my way.

“Sorry, sir.” She steps back. “I’ll bring your food in when it gets here.”

“Knock,” I remind her before I head back into my office.

I can’t recall if her coming and going out of my office before today was normal. I never had a reason for privacy before now. I don’t care if Felicity is a chick. I don’t want her walking in when I have my girl spread out on my desk.

“He’s back. Gotta go,” Savannah whispers loudly into her phone before ending the call. She quickly puts the phone down and starts to click away on the computer, pretending to work. She has no clue what she’s doing. It’s adorable and for some messed-up reason makes my dick hard watching her try to get away with something.

“Everything okay?” I ask.

“That was a long pee break.”

“I had to talk to Neil. He does all our legal shit around here. Needed to clear some things up.”

“Oh.” Those little ohs of hers are turning me on too. Why does everything she does work for me? The more I’m around her, the deeper I sink into wanting her. I’m going to end up in the loony bin at this rate.

“Listen.” I pluck her out of her chair sitting her on my desk. She wiggles around, calling me a caveman and mumbles something about her not being a doll that I can just pick up. “If something is bothering you, I need to know so I can fix it.”

“I wanna see Ollie.”

“Okay, then we’ll go see her after lunch.”

“But we have work. What about after that?” I love that even though she has no clue as to what she’s doing when it comes to her job here, she doesn’t want to dip out. Or allow me to give her preferential treatment.

“I’m the boss.” I lean down and brush my mouth against hers. She parts her lips, letting me in without a fight. My cock strains against my pants. Thoughts of spreading her wide on my desk and sinking into her warm cunt almost have me coming in my pants. She’s not ready for that yet, though, and I won’t take her until everything is cleared up. I don’t ever want there to be a question of who she belongs to.

A loud knock sounds at the door, cutting into my thoughts. “Lunch,” Felicity calls before walking in. Since when do I have to get her a fucking step-by-step on how to enter a room?

“You knock and wait for someone to say you can come in.”
