He leaned over and pressed his lips to her forehead. “I love you, Cass, and don’t you ever forget it.”

“Back at you, Dash. You two,” she said, looking down at the baby, “are my everything.”

He waited a few minutes, allowing the emotions of the day to flow through him. Then he went to deal with the family, the other people they loved.
