Spark - Page 20

I take a deep breath, trying to get myself together the best I can. One Roberts is hard enough to deal with. I have no idea how I’m going to handle a second.

I run my hands through my hair, fucking pissed. The taste of my sweet girl is still on my lips. Our perfect moment was shattered with Andrea’s interruption. I love my sister but I’m going to strangle her. Bailey’s whole face is a warm shade of pink. I don’t know if it’s from the orgasm I gave her or that she’s embarrassed. There is nothing embarrassing about me making my girl come, but what pissed me off is that someone saw her naked and in the heat of passion.

It’s irrational because it was my sister but still. Anyone could have walked through that door and seen my girl spread open for me. Possessiveness and jealousy eat at my insides thinking about it. My protester is all mine. I’m the only one she’ll be protesting or getting naked with. I want every part of her to myself.

“Andrea,” I snap at her again so she’ll go out front and let me talk Bailey down. I can tell that mind of hers is already bouncing around with a million things.

“Fine! But I’m telling Mom.” She starts to walk off.

“Don’t forget to mention Jason,” I flippantly say. I inwardly curse myself. I shouldn’t have said that. I don’t give a shit if she tells Mom or Dad. They will know about it soon enough but I know I just poked my sister. She turns, stopping her departure. Let’s just say if looks could kill, I’d be dead.

“You threatening me?” She narrows her eyes on me.

“He’s more into blackmail.” Bailey pops her head out from behind me. My sister’s eyes flick to Bailey, taking her in. Her expression grows soft and I know she likes what she sees. Andrea is a no-nonsense type of person who is an extremely good judge of character. She either loves you fiercely or she doesn’t bother with you at all. Sure, she has acquaintances but she always keeps them at arm’s length. Her loyalty is second to none whether she’s your family or your friend. I can tell by the look on Andrea’s face that these two are going to gang up on me. Warmth fills my chest knowing that they are going to get along.

“He’s blackmailing you?” Andrea asks her. Bailey tries to step out from behind me. I let her but snag her around the waist, pulling her to my side.

“He is!” Bailey nods, making the messy bun she put on her head bounce. I don’t know why but I reach up, pulling the tie from it and letting those whitish blond locks of hair fall. I’ve never seen hair like hers before. The color is so pure and eye-catching, and not because I can still see flecks of sparkles in it. There isn’t a chance in hell of going into her place and not coming out with glitter somewhere on you. I am finding glitter in places that I’m not even comfortable talking about. I don’t mind, though, because each time I see a hint of something flashy, it reminds me of her and brings a smile to my face.

“But he’s the one in the kitten apron,” Andrea points out. She tries not to laugh but I can hear the humor in her voice. Bailey glances at the apron she’s given me. I don’t give a shit what I wear. It made Bailey smile when I put it on so fuck it. I am wearing it.

“It’s my favorite.” She says it like I stole it from her, making Andrea finally let loose the smile she’s been fighting.

“It smells good in here. You know he can’t cook, right?”

“He just rolls the balls.” Bailey points to the batch of cookie dough I’ve been rolling for her. I know she has to work and I wasn’t going to try and talk her out of it. I don’t fight battles I know I’ll lose. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.

I could, however, help her. The girl works too hard. I don’t truly think Millie knows how late she stays up to get as much product made as the store requires. The demands for her goods are so high that she’s been increasing her output by staying up until all hours of the night. If Millie knew the amount of hours Bailey is putting in she would never be okay with it. I’ve already gotten my ass chewed by her about handling my girl with care. I let Millie lay into me like any protective friend or family member would. Oddly, she hasn’t said a thing about my coffee shop going in next door. Her only worry was Bailey. It made me like her.
