As she entered the bedroom, her hands were shaking, and she saw he was sitting up in bed. Tears were streaming down his face. “I wet the bed.”

“Oh, honey. Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.” She took his hand and led him to the bathroom. She let him use the toilet as she ran him a bath.

Wayne entered the room, dressed in a pair of pajama boxers.

“What do you need me to do?”

“Do you want to sit with him while I change his sheets?” she asked.

“Yeah, sure.”

She couldn’t look at him right now. Her heart was hammering, and she … felt so lost.

This was why she never broke her own rules. Leaving the bathroom, she changed and washed down Timothy’s bed, preparing it again.

By the time she finished, Wayne and Timothy were back. They turned off the lights and waited while he fell back to sleep.

Once he was asleep, Temperance knew this wasn’t over between her and Wayne.

Closing his door, she rested her head against the wood. “I’m not a whore.”

“I didn’t call you anything, Tempe.”

She turned to look at him, staring him in the eye. “I’m … not this person. I’ve never slept with my boss, ever. I don’t do this.”

“I told you before. I’m not going to change my opinion of you.” He reached out, holding his hand for her to take. “Haven’t you ever wanted something so badly that you could taste it?”

“Yes, but every single time I stop myself. It’s not always mine to take.”

“You’ve got to take a few risks in life, Tempe.” He pulled her close, and she didn’t fight him.

She wasn’t even trying to push him away.

“Life is short. Don’t allow yourself to wake up one morning, old and full of regrets. Take chances. Take risks. Take what you want.”

Every word drew her in, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Her parents had once told her to live life to the fullest, to never have any regrets.

At thirty years old, she’d experienced more passion with this man than at any other point in her life.

Kissing his lips, she allowed him to walk her back to her bedroom. She spread her legs as they fell to the bed. Wayne’s hands ran all over her body, making her moan and need more of him. He didn’t let her go, and she didn’t want to be let go.

This was probably the biggest mistake of her life, but it was her life, and she had to start living it.

No matter how much it would break her heart later.

Chapter Eight

“Stop it,” Temperance said, laughing as Wayne wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her neck and pressed against her back. Timothy was watching cartoons, which meant while she made breakfast, Wayne was doing everything he could to distract her. “Don’t you have work?”

“I do have work, but I hear that as the owner of the company, I also get the privilege of having some fun.” He spun her around, pressing her up against the counter. Waking up with her in his arms should have set off his alarm bells, but it hadn’t. They had fucked and made love all night long.

The passion hadn’t once died out, and he wanted her again. It wasn’t just the sex he wanted—it was everything.

Making breakfast with her, going to the park.

“I have to make breakfast.”

“You can, as soon as you give me a kiss.” He held onto her hips, keeping her in place. He was bigger and much stronger than she was. Temperance was all softness while he was muscular.

She kissed his cheek.

“Little witch,” he said, smiling. “A proper kiss. Lips, and maybe a little tongue.”

“Well, I have to say, Mr. Myers, I didn’t know you were so playful.” She wrapped her arms around his neck.

“For you, Miss Michaels, I will always be playful.” Slamming his lips down on hers, he took the kiss he’d been wanting her to give him.

Once again, they were interrupted, only this time by the doorbell, which was strange. He rarely had any visitors to his home. “I’ll be right back.”

He couldn’t resist another kiss before he left.

Opening his apartment front door, he saw his friend James standing there. “Who would have thought you’d become lazy.” James slapped him on the chest, laughing. “Frances said all of your calls are being transferred to your cell and you’re taking a couple of days off. Imagine my surprise.”

Wayne didn’t want James in his apartment, but he also didn’t want to cause a stir.

“Of course I know why you are. The papers got a good shot of you yesterday looking all in love with a very curvy nanny.”

He froze. “What?”

“You’ve not seen the newspapers or the internet stories?” James pulled one out of his back pocket. “She photographs well.”

He took the magazine, and there on the front cover was a picture of him, Timothy, and Temperance, looking like a loving family.
