Perfect Strangers - Page 28

“Myla,” he whispered. He grabbed her wrist and held her in front of him, “I’m so sorry about Kat.”

“Remember, Kai, you owe me one now.” Kissing his cheek, she cut Kat a dirty look and waltzed from the restaurant.

CHAPTER TWELVE

“Are you excited?” Cass asked when they left the confines of her cream and black Mini Cooper and headed into the Boutique.

“Oh, yes. I’m ecstatic, can’t you tell?” Myla replied sarcastically. “Between putting up with my sardonic mother and a pompous Kai, I can see next week is going to be a living hell, literally,” she said. She turned the closed sign on the door and locked it behind them.

“Come on, Myla don’t be too hard on the poor man, he’s doing you a massive favor,” said Avery as she came bowling towards them from the back of the Boutique, with disheveled hair and smeared make up. Cass’s eyes widened and a childish grin broke out. “You dirty little bitch, is Stavros back there?”

“Jesus, Avery are you shagging Stavros in the back of my bloody shop?” Myla asked, incensed.

She swatted her hand in front of her face and laughed, “Calm down girls. In fact, it’s been a busy day here and I have been on my own, you really need to get air con installed, Myla, then maybe my makeup wouldn’t melt!”

“Agapi Mou, where are you?” Came the voice of Stavros, his naked torso appearing from the back of the shop. Avery clenched her eyes shut tight and stamped her foot. “Shit,” she snapped and swallowed hard.

“Well, what do we have here?” Myla asked. She crossed her arms in front of her and tapped her foot, glaring in Avery’s direction.

“Ladies,” smiled Stavros “how wonderful to see you.”

“You too, Stavros. Tell me, are you having a fitting for a dress?” Cass asked with a smirk.

“Uhm, no. Why do

you ask that?”

“Well, that’s the only logical explanation for you to be half naked,” said Myla, “unless, of course, you two are up to no good in my shop?” she asked, pointing an accusing finger between the two of them. Avery looked at the floor, unable to meet Myla’s disapproving glare. The atmosphere had suddenly become tense and everyone stayed silent.

“Ooh,” started Cass, “have you got Myla’s gift?” she asked Avery, in an attempt at cutting through the tension hanging in the air.

Avery’s eyes lit up and she raised her head to look at Cass. “I sure have. One second,” she replied. She turned herself around and headed out the back, dragging Stavros with her, by his ear.

“You got me a gift?” Myla asked Cass with wide eyes.

“Sure, have, babe, call it a leaving gift,” she smiled with a wink.

“A leaving gift? I’m only going away for a week, I’m not emigrating, Cass.”

“Trust me, you’ll be needing this gift by day three,” she replied with a snort.

Avery came rushing out with a wrapped gift held firmly in her hands, licking her lips, her eyes flickered with excitement. “Trust us, Myla, you will be needing this,” she laughed handing it over.

“I’m touched you guys got me a gift, that’s so thoughtful,” said Myla, excitement rippled through her body.

“Open it then,” Avery encouraged as she held it out to her.

Scrunching her petite nose up, she let out a childish squeal. She grabbed it from Avery’s hands and began excitedly shredding the paper. Her smile died instantly, her eyebrows furrowed and a frown replaced her once excited features as she looked at the unwrapped gift.

“Do you like it?” Cass asked with a snigger.

“Err, it’s a feather duster?” Myla questioned, confusion at the gift became apparent to the others.

Rolling her eyes, Myla glanced at Avery, hoping she would shed some light. “Do you know what it’s for and why you’ll be needing it?” Avery asked.

“Well if I knew that, Avery, I wouldn’t be stood here confused as hell now, would I?”

“This babe, is for you to use to dust away those bloody cobwebs that have gathered between your damn legs,” laughed Cass. She watched Myla’s mouth gape open.
