SCARLET

I rolled over and groaned in pain. The bed was so soft and warm, but I was in desperate need of the toilet and more pain meds. The doctor came about an hour after I had fallen asleep. I barely remembered anything he had said to me or done other than feed me pain meds. Once he was done stitching and wrapping, I had fallen back into bed with Seb and back to sleep.

“Do you need to get up?” Seb asked in the sweetest sleepy voice.

“I do, but you’re not about to help me pee, Seb,” I told him as I gently tried to untangle myself from his wild limbs. Somehow in the night, he had managed to wrap me up against him like a spider in a web. A delicious web made of hard muscle and tattoos.

Focus. You have to pee.

He laughed and gently but forcibly pulled me back to him.

“I think I’d prefer to keep you here,” he said, nipping at the tender skin of my neck.

“You want me to pee on you? I didn’t know you were into watersports, Sebastian,” I teased, still trying to move out of his grasp without breaking another rib.

“I’m down for anything you wanna try, little pet.” He kissed me hard on the lips, moving his tongue across mine as I opened my mouth to him. His hands gripped my bare ass and squeezed, making me moan and move against him. He smacked my ass and then broke the kiss. “Go pee. I’ll help you change your bandages and stuff after. Get some more meds in you.”

After I limped and waddled to and from the bathroom, he was sitting on the edge of the bed in black boxer briefs, holding medical supplies and looking like a tattooed god. Although, he looked too much like sin to be considered a god.

“Keep looking at me like that and I won’t be able to let you heal properly before I pound your tight little pussy into the mattress.” He licked his lips and looked me over. There was no way I could look good to him right now covered in bruises and cuts, with slept-on hair and looking so skinny you could see every bone in my body. But he was looking at me like he wanted to devour me.

I grinned at him and lay down on the bed, letting him pull his shirt I slept in up over my body, exposing all of my wounds so that he could clean and wrap me back up.

“You know,” he said as he gently peeled some bandages from my stomach, “when we couldn’t find you, we kind of fell apart.” He glanced up at me before continuing his work.

“What do you mean?” I asked, trying and failing to sit up on my elbows so that I could get a better look at him. I lifted my head as best I could to see what he was doing. The sadness was back in his eyes, and he refused to look up at me anymore.

“We were at each other’s throats the entire time. I was speaking out of turn, Elliot was grumpier than usual, and Tristan made…questionable decisions.” He sighed. “It was like none of us knew how to navigate losing you. We didn’t know how to talk to each other anymore, which is so stupid considering you had only been around for such a short time and we had been alone for years before you.”

I laid my head back down, blinking against the tears that were threatening to fall, and reached a hand out to him. He lay down next to my side, and I guided his head to my chest. I didn’t care how sore I was; I wanted to feel his weight on me. I ran my hands through his soft hair. He had let it get a bit longer since I saw him last, and I kind of liked it.

“I’m so sorry, Seb. About all of it. I’m so sorry that you guys lost Mel.”

“Hey,” he said, sitting up and looking down on me. “It is not your fault that we left you alone that night, and it definitely isn’t your fault that your family is a piece of shit. I didn’t want to leave you that night. I should’ve fought harder to stay.”

He leaned down and kissed me again, this time with purpose. He forced my mouth open to his and stole my breath. We poured everything we couldn’t say out loud into that kiss. Warmth pooled low in my stomach, and I begged him with my body to keep going. I needed it. I needed the distraction and the connection to another human being. I needed to be grounded with him. His fingers gently trailed across my stomach and over my hips, settling in between my thighs as he nudged them apart.

“I’ve missed your moans,” he said as he peppered kisses across my jaw and brushed a fingertip over my clit. I gasped and pushed my hips up to get more friction. “Be a good girl and let me take care of you, okay?” he whispered. “Lie here and let me do all the work.”

“Good morning!” Tristan announced as he strutted into the room. Seb rolled off me and groaned. I felt about the same at being interrupted but smiled when I saw Tristan carrying a tray filled with food. My stomach was instantly growling.

“Oh my god,” I moaned and tried to sit up so I could shove my face full.

“My sentiments exactly,” Seb murmured before assisting me and propping me up on every pillow available.

“Keep it in your pants, Seb. She just got back.”

“She started it,” Sebastian said before giving me a quick peck on the lips. “I’ll go shower while you eat.” Then he turned to Tristan with a serious face. “She needs new bandages and her pain pills. I’ll be back in a minute.”

Tristan stood there, holding the tray piled high with food, and watched Sebastian leave with an eyebrow raised. I laughed when he turned back towards me, holding my ribs against the pain. Tristan gave his head a little shake and then gently laid the tray over my legs.

“He’s really on one, isn’t he? Like a kid with a toy.”

“Hi,” I said as he sat down next to me. His face softened, and he leaned forward to kiss me.

“Hi, poppet.” He leaned back and looked at me, taking in all of my stitches and bruises. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it before making a dramatic show of how hungry I was.

“I’m going to eat literally every single pastry, slab of bacon, and piece of fruit on this tray. And don’t even think about touching any of these pancakes.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it, love,” he said, smiling and then moving to lean against the headboard next to me. I looked around the tray and didn’t see any coffee, only juice and water.

“No coffee?” I asked him with an exaggerated pout on my lips. His green eyes sparkled before he grabbed my lower lip with a soft bite.
