She kisses me one more time before stepping back. “I’ll make it up to you when you ask for real. Just make sure the night is free when you do.” She playfully bites her lip as she walks backwards, and then she turns to go grab Riley again.
Fuck. I run my hands down my face. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Holy fuck! Did that just happen?
I hear her and Riley squealing outside, and I can’t drop the ridiculous grin on my face. Holy fucking shit! She said yes.
God, I need to plan a real proposal asap. I don’t want to wait any longer. I need to get a ring. I need to book something amazing. I should call Jason. He can help. Fuck, I don’t want to start our life together in this house. I wonder if she would mind living in an apartment until we get a new place. I should have enough for a downpayment for a new place plus whatever equity I’ve put into this place.
I hear giggles, and I snap out of my thoughts to find Wren and Riley staring at me. Riley leans over to Wren. “I think you broke him.”
Wren winks at me, and I laugh and step forward and kiss her again because I can’t not. She pulls back and smiles at me. “I love you.”
I smile, but before I can even respond, she shoves at my chest again. “For real though, get out of the way. We’re already behind schedule.”
I sigh and playfully salute her. “Whatever you say, boss.”
I have every intention of working my ass off to get this event done and over with as soon as possible so that I can get her back home tonight. She’s not going to know what hit her.
