Fall From Grace

Mason grunts while I mouth a thank you over to Noah.
“So how is your new assistant working out for you?” Noah asks.
“Great,” I answer, not wanting to elaborate.
“You have a new assistant?” Anna asks.
“Owen’s sister is working for him,” Noah tells her.
Anna scrunches her brow. “I didn’t know he had a sister who lived here.”
“He doesn’t,” I say. “She just moved here temporarily.”
“She’s new here?” Mason asks curiously. “You know the girl at the bar was new in town. And she just moved to town. Strange coincidence.”
I look over at Mason, trying my hardest not to punch him in the face. “A lot of people move here. It’s not like this is some small town.”
Mason shakes his head. “No. I remember seeing the girl from the bar recently. Is it the same girl? Your office is only a few blocks away from the studio and I saw her walk by a few times. I knew she looked familiar.”
“The girl from the bar is not my assistant.”
Mason looks at me keenly. “Did your eye just twitch?”
“No.”
“No way, man. What a fucking coincidence!” Mason shouts.
Noah looks between us. “Seriously? How the hell is that possible?”
I fold my arms over my chest, trying to deny it.
“So you fucked your assistant before you knew she was your assistant?” Faye asks.
“And it’s his best friend’s sister,” Anna chimes in.
Well fuck me and this damn nosy family.
“Does Owen know?” Noah asks.
“Hell no! I would like to keep my balls.”
“Have you fucked her again?” Mason asks. “You know, like hot office sex. One time—”
I cut him off, not wanting to hear about whatever he does in his studio. “No, I’ve pretended we’ve never met.”
“Ouch, that’s harsh,” Anna says.
“Damn, how’s that working out for you?” Noah says with a smile on his face.
“With my dick in my hand every night.” I snicker.
“And I am walking away,” Anna says. “I do not need to hear about the relationship between your hand and your dick.”
Faye follows her but not without saying loud enough for us all to hear. “Probably why his forearms are so strong.”
I pinch my fingers between my brows. This is going to be a long night.
