Leo stewed, stomach sinking. “I can’t be away from her so long—”

“You said to make her happy—”

“She needs both of us—”

“And she’ll have both of us individually.”

Leo rubbed at his jaw and began to pace back and forth. Could he go without her all Winter? No, absolutely not. He glared at Hunter. “You’re a prick.”

Hunter shrugged. “You’re not seeing the silver lining here.”

“What is the silver lining?”

“That you can have her for the Spring.”

But Leo shook his head again, stopping to seethe, “I promised her adventure. I promised her sandy beaches and an endless ocean—”

“She doesn’t give a shit about your vacation itinerary—”

“I want the Summer with her, Hunt.”

Hunt’s nostrils flared. “You know summertime is our thing. You were always fucking off in your yacht someplace. Skye and I deserve the sun—”

“Then I get Winter.”

Now it was Hunter’s turn to pace, jaw locked to seethe, “You’re a prick.”

Leo stopped to watch him, smiling cruelly right back. “You said to make her happy.”

Hunter growled. “Fuck you.”

Leo shrugged, lips twitching. “Winter with me, Summer with you—”

“I want Winter!” Hunter paused in his steps to point at Leo. “You always get your fucking way, Leo. Let me have this.”

“You’re giving me Autumn and Spring?” Leo scoffed. “Those are the shittiest times of the year—”

“Winter and Spring then.”

Leo’s heart ached at such a demand. “To be away from her forbothseasons? Could you be away from her for so long?”

Hunter’s face dropped, and he looked anguished. “I don’t want this, but I’m trying to make it work.”

He was.

Hunter was putting aside his possessive nature to share Skye between them, and Leo was arguing over seasons. He ran a hand down his face, feeling shattered, but also desperate to make this happen. “Both seasons, and I have Summer and Autumn.”

Hunter’s fingers shook as he reached for another smoke. He pulled the carton out of his pocket, his expression grim as he admitted, “I don’t think I can be away from her for that long, Leo, without falling apart.”

Leo understood because he felt the same way. “Then while I have her both seasons, you can spend time with her a weekend a month, but I want that too on your rotation.”

“To do what exactly?”

“Just to see her.”

“No touching.”

“That’s right.”
