“I wouldn’t have appreciated you having dinner with an ex no matter the reason, so therefore I didn’t do it with her.”

“What about the other stuff we talked about?” Like the fact that I didn’t want her living in an apartment, he was paying for. According to him, she makes more than enough to take care of herself, and since their arrangement was at an end, I don’t see why he should continue. It’s all kinds of petty, but I can’t find it in me to care.

“She’ll start looking for a place this week. I didn’t just kick her out on the street like you suggested, so I gave her a month, then I’m putting the place on the market. Satisfied?”

“Somewhat yes! I’ll let her keep the gifts you gave her since it would be tacky to ask for them back.”

“I don’t give her gifts; I told you we didn’t have that kind of relationship.”

“So it’s done, all the way done? No loose ends to tie up?” I bet she’ll find about a thousand.

“No, everything’s done. We don’t have any more business dealings either, so there should be no reason for me to see her again except in passing since our paths might cross professionally.”

“If you see her, you’d better turn and go in the opposite direction, don’t even speak.”

“That’s reasonable and very mature.”

“We’ll talk about reasonable and mature when you stop losing your shit every time someone of your species even looks in my direction. Let’s eat. I’m starving.” I wasn’t really, but I knew the guilt he’d feel from hearing it, and I was feeling just a little snippy.

We were still in our getting to know you phase, and he’s been bending over backward to make me feel comfortable living with him, so any little schism sent him into a flurry. Once he gets to know me better, he’d realize that it takes a hell of a lot more to piss me off, and by then, I’ll have to fight to keep the little bit of power I now have.

Speaking of getting used to living together, I find it strange the way I’ve just settled into his place and his bed. I thought for sure I’d be shy for at least the first few months while finding my footing, but he made it easy for me to just settle right in like I owned the place. The fact that he never denies me anything and is always going out of his way to see to my comfort helps with that, I’m sure.

That night I’d been purposely overly quiet all through dinner until it was bedtime. I’d grown accustomed to sleeping in one of his tees that came to my knees and a pair of socks instead of my old ratty sweats. That night after my shower, I pulled on another one of his filched shirts, and because I forgot for a minute where I was and that I was supposed to be beautiful at all times, I pulled my hair up in a messy bun on top of my head and put on my glasses as I sat up in bed with my laptop on my lap doing some extra homework.

Jared was in the house somewhere doing whatever, probably thinking up ways to make my life miserable. I heard his footsteps outside the door but didn’t look up right away when he walked into the room. It was the silence that caught my attention, and when I finally looked up, he looked from me then down to the tent in his slacks. Of course, I started to get the happy tingles though I had no idea what had set him off, and before I could say a word, he crossed the room, moved my computer off my lap, and pulled me down flat on my back on the bed.

“Jared?” I started to question him in between giggles of delight, my heart thumping away in my chest at the fact that I had this effect on him.

“Shh!” He lifted my ankles in his hands and spread my legs open, “no panties, good.” Next thing I know, he was on his knees with his head between my thighs, and his tongue was sliding into me.

My giggles turned into moans and sighs of pleasure as my body tightened and writhed beneath his onslaught. When he was done making me scream my head off, he slid up my body and into me. That night’s loving was slow and easy, unlike anything we’d shared before, and yet somehow I felt him in places I never had as he kept up that nice slow mind-blowing pace… until the end.

I was enjoying this new side of things when, for some reason, he lifted his head from my neck where he’d had it buried while softly nibbling on my skin the way I liked, looked at me in my glasses, and lost it. Those nibbles turned into him, sucking on my neck hard as he tried to pound another orifice into me. Of course, I was loving it, the sweet pain that comes with his loss of control.
