She went into a locked drawer underneath her desk and lifted out a key identical to the one I had. She threaded it onto a chain and then seeing the key in my hand, she passed it to Kayla.

Kayla got the idea and fixed it around her neck.

“May I?” Ashley took my key and repeated her actions. I placed the chain around my neck. The key fitted within the swell of my breasts, feeling cold against the heat from my body.

“I will leave you here,” Matthew said. “When you are ready to leave, please let Ashley know you need transportation and she will take care of it.”

“That’s okay, we’ll call a cab.” I told him.

He shook his head. “Mr. Carter would want to make sure you were home safe. Please let Ashley phone one of our drivers to take you home.”

“Okay.” I agreed.

“Please go up in the elevator to the twenty-fourth floor. You will need to hold a key against the pad in the elevator.” Ashley replied.

We thanked her and moved towards it.

The elevator doors opened. The space was large and had a black satin covered ceiling dotted with silver stars, like a beautiful night sky. I pressed the button for the twenty-fourth floor.

“I’m so excited I could piss my pants.” Kayla squealed in delight.

I wished I felt the same. Instead I felt a sense of trepidation, like everyone here was going to be from money and we were going to look like fish out of water.

We walked across the lobby. The floor had the same pattern, black with silver stars, and doormen greeted us in front of two huge silver double doors. We had to remove our chains so they could hold the keys up to a screen.

“First time?” One of the doormen asked. I assumed it showed up on his screen.

“Yes.”

“Enjoy, and don’t leave before midnight.” I swore I saw a hint of a smirk at the edge of his mouth.

As we walked through the doors we gasped. The splendour of the place was incredible. There were bars at each edge of the room. A large dancefloor was in the centre of the room and there was a stage at one end where bands must play. Each black gloss table had a silver star in the centre of it. The place was buzzing. Bottles of expensive champagne and wine were everywhere. All the men were in black tie and all the women dressed in the latest hot designers. I felt shabby in my silver dress. It looked good enough but these women would know I wasn’t dressed in designer clothes.

We headed to the bar where we both asked for a glass of white wine.

The barman--who Kayla was already flirting with--tilted his head at us. “First time here?”

“Yes,” I stated, quite abruptly. “Is it really that obvious?”

He smiled, “Yes, because you asked for white wine when you have a silver key. No one likes asking for champagne on their first visit.”

“I can’t afford champagne.” I told him. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford the wine yet.”

Now the bartender’s face was marred with confusion. “You have a silver key membership. All drinks are included.”

“Whoop,” Kayla hollered. “In that case we’ll have a bottle of Moet and two glasses, darling.”

“Kayla!”

“What?” She gave a faux look of guilt. “We’re here to enjoy ourselves. By the way have you seen stud muffin yet?”

“No.” I had looked for H ever since we walked in the building, but he didn’t seem to be here. I

couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, but it was time to drink, dance and enjoy ourselves as this membership was probably a one-time only thing and we needed a night to remember.

**

A siren went off at ten minutes to midnight and made us jump. The other members wore faces filled with emotions like trepidation and excitement. They passed knowing smiles and looks amongst each other. Kayla and I were totally confused. The atmosphere in the place had changed. Something was about to happen and I guessed that the siren was the precursor.
