If I’m a dead man, then I have nothing to lose tonight. Let’s hope that’s not the weed and whiskey talking and I regret this in the morning.

Big Chief

Inside Delilah’s room, a candle next to her bed is lit, making her room smell of coconut.

“Delilah,” I call for her, flipping the blanket off the bed and finding it empty, I look to the bathroom. There she is, both hands on the counter while she stares at her reflection. “Delilah.” Whispering her name, I go to her.

She turns, her lips pursed and bold green eyes angry as burnt ivy. Her hand suddenly whips back and slaps me across the face. A burn warming my cheek instantly.

“Fuck you!” she sneers and then she slaps me again.

“Listen to me!” I try and grab her swinging arm and she shoves me instead.

“Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!” She begins to pound on my chest with her fists, shoving me backward until I’m out of the bathroom. She becomes hostile, thrashing her head and hands everywhere that I have no choice but to grab her and pull her into my chest.

“Would you fucking stop it!”

“Let me go!” She jerks from my grip, emotion thick in her voice.

“I will when you calm the fuck down and listen to me!”

She stills, her breathing harsh. Turning us, I shove her back on the bed and crawl on top of her. Taking her wrists in my hands, I hold them above her head to keep her from fucking me up any more than I am.

Her bright glossy green eyes look into my own and I feel her pain.

“I fucked up,” I confess with a heavy breath. She stops resisting, but her face is hard and angry still.

She stops resisting, but her face is hard and angry still.

“I thought you didn’t want anything more, I thought...”

“Get the fuck off me!” Her voice cracks, and that’s when I notice a tear slip down the side of her face. She’s yelling for me to go, but she doesn’t want me to. I can see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice.

“No, you’re going to listen to me, damn it!” Shouting in her face, her nostrils flare in reaction. “If I had known you were interested in wanting more than what happened at that motel—”

“It doesn’t even matter, so just stop,” she interrupts, trying to pull from my tight grip.

“Why, because of your dad?”

She doesn’t answer me.

“The biker can’t be with the club princess. How fucking cliché, Delilah. Fuck him! Do you want to be with me or not?” I jerk her wrist to get her attention, to shake her from her own sorrow. Her head slowly turns and sad eyes look back at me.

Her head slowly turns and sad eyes look back at me. “Stop fucking around and tell me what you want!” I tell her again, demanding her to tell me.

Raising her head off the bed, she yells, “It’s not that easy.”

“It is!”

She doesn’t reply, she just looks at me, her breathing labored with anger.

“Answer me. What do you—”

“You…” she whispers so lightly I hardly hear her. “God!” She raises her voice. “And I hate it. I hate that you have this control over me!” she admits, another tear slipping down the side of her face.

Letting go of one of her wrists, I run my thumb over her bottom lip, she’s so broken and perfect at the same time. I never thought I’d have a chance with her but she is falling apart for… me.

“Say it again,” I demand, my voice gentle but strong. Her eyes darkened and body softening beneath me.

“You, I want you,” she confesses, and I kiss her like I need her next breath to live. Sealing our fate.

Her lips open for me and the taste of her fills my mouth, Jesus Christ, I missed her so much. My lips skim across her jaw, and down her neck. Her breathing kicks up a notch as I run my hand up her shirt and discover she’s not wearing a bra.

“My dad is going to go ballistic, Big Chief.” She shakes her head, trying to fight what we’re both feeling. “He’ll pull your patch and everything you worked for will be done. Don’t you see why I’m the scorpion! Haven’t you learned that yet?”

Cupping her mouth, I shut her up. I don’t fucking care. I’ve given up my whole life before and I’ll do it again if it means I can have her.

“Then I lose my patch. Fuck it if I lose the club. I wanted to be here to have loyalty and a place to call home, but none of it is worth it if I can’t share it with you, D.” She makes me laugh, drives me crazy, and is worth whatever the fuck her dad and the club does to me. Cupping her face, I caress her cheek with my thumb and place her hand on top of mine.
