“You okay?”

Her eyes look up at me, and her mouth opens, spitting out puke all over my boots.

Bear laughs from the sidelines, and Maybelline sways. I catch her, and Dime leans into me like I’m some kind of fucking wall.

Fuck. This is not how I saw this night going at all. Jinx comes out of the club with his sunglasses on and a smile on his face. He looks me over with humor in his face, Bear and North both laughing at my ass.

“Yeah, soak it up, fuckers.” I shake my head trying to make sure neither girl falls on their face.

“I’ll get my truck and help you get them home,” Jinx offers.

In Jinx’s truck, he’s silent with one hand on the wheel staring out the windshield.

Dime is in the front seat moaning in agony, I don’t know how much she’s had to drink but it must have been a lot in a short period of time. Maybelline is sitting beside me in the back seat with her head on my shoulder, her body lax and bouncing with every pothole Jinx hits. Streetlights slip across us as we pass under them and I notice she has goose bumps along her arms, she’s cold. Sliding off my cut I put it over her and Jinx looks over at me.

“What?”

He shakes his head with a grin on his face.

“It’s bound to happen to you at some point.”

“What is?”

“Finding a woman that grounds you. I never thought I’d settle down but eventually it happens to us all,” he says, switching arms to put his left arm now on the steering wheel.

Glancing down at Maybelline, I watch her sleep, curious if she’s grounding me like Jinx said.

We pull into the trailer park and I get out and slide my hands under Maybelline’s body, pulling her to my chest.

She groans.

“I feel sick.”

“You’ll be alright,” I whisper in her ear.

Using my hips to hoist her up, I open her door, which isn’t locked. Why isn’t it locked? Taking her inside, the house is dark except for one lamp sitting on a side table in the living room. Using it as my guide, I walk down the hall and kick open the door that I know goes to her room with my boot, the moon shines through the shades illuminating the room. I swear every time I’m with Maybelline that fucking moon is watching over us like it’s yearning to see how our story unfolds. Sliding her into her bed, I situate her head on a pillow and take her sandals off, tossing them over my shoulder. Covering her up, Jinx finally enters the room and plops Dime onto the bed.

“Let’s get back to the club,” Jinx mutters, and I nod in agreement.

Leaving Maybelline behind, I lock her door before getting into Jinxs’ truck.

Maybelline

My mouth is dry, head hurts, and I’m extremely tired. Thunder booms from outside forcing me to open my eyes.

I’m in bed.

I shoot up with confusion. That’s right, Crow took me home. Snoring next to me startles me to a near scream before I realize it’s Dime. Her makeup smeared down her face and on my pillow.

I shove her.

“Wake up!”

She snorts, her eyes opening. “What?” she groans.

“Who was with Crow last night?”

She closes her eyes and snuggles into my bed.

“Mhhm, some guy.”

Palming my face, humiliation fills my chest. I had a beer and two shots. Wait, three shots. Ruin gave me a shot when I started freaking out about Crow fighting some guy. Jesus, I’m a lightweight. Maybe it was mixing all the different drinks. Just thinking about it makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Laying back down, I groan and think about Crow. The way his hand locked with mine, the way he put his arms around me in front of all those women who kept staring at him.

… and then I puked on him.

Two Days Later

North had me help out at the strip club the last couple days, so I didn’t get home until late and by the time I got to the trailer park Maybelline’s lights were off in her home so I didn’t bother her. But today North said he could handle Centerfolds by himself so I’m heading over to Latte Da to see Maybelline before she leaves. Just as I stop in the café’s parking lot my phone rings.

Pulling it out, it’s North. Shit, again?

I answer it.

“Get to the club now.”

“What’s wrong?”

The line goes dead. Glancing up at the café, I know I have to go to the club, the sound of North’s voice tells me something is going on. Hopping back on my motorcycle I head over to the club and head inside. North is pacing, Chaos on the phone in the back and the other guys look startled and tense.

“What’s going on?”

“Ruin, and Bash’s brother, Stryker, are in jail. I guess Stryker got in some fight and Ruin went to check on him and they both ended up getting arrested. I guess the fight was pretty bad and they’re looking at assault with a deadly weapon.” North looks down, the light he usually carries with him snuffed out that his brother is behind bars.
