Crow: Kings of Carnage MC - Prospects

Sighing, I glare in her direction.
“He isn’t a fucking snitch, Dime. If he was, then he would have already done it!” My voice rises, making her eyes widen with surprise. I never yell at her, not like this.
“Wow, he must be that good in bed, huh?”
I palm my face at her response. I mean yes he is really, really, good in bed but it’s more than that.
Crossing my arms, I turn around and look back at the window.
“Dime, have you ever been in love?”
Silence fills the café, neither of us talking as we both think on that word, love.
“You mean like the stuff you see in movies?” she finally answers.
I nod, my back still turned to her.
“There was one time I liked this guy but he seemed to like every girl around town but me. I changed myself trying to be like the girls he liked but it only made him more of an asshole toward me.”
This is the first I’ve heard of this, and I turn around to look at her.
“Who?” My parenting instincts kick in and I’m ready to find this little fucker and ask him what makes him think he’s so great.
She shakes her head.
“It doesn’t matter. After humiliating myself over and over, I finally figured out I’m better without him and simply pretend that he doesn’t exist.”
Grinning, I ask, “Pretend he doesn’t exist?”
She laughs. “Yeah, he’ll ask me something or give me a compliment and I just walk right past him. He seems to try to talk to me more now that I ignore him than when I was trying to get with him.”
Shaking my head, I head behind the counter and stand next to her.
“That’s because now that he thinks he can’t have you, he wants to prove to his ego and his boys he can. Don’t give in because when you do, he’ll go right back to being an asshole to you and you’ll feel worse about yourself,” I parent, and she purses her lips and nods.
The look on her face matching one of a typical kid listening to their parents’ advice.
“If you love him, Maybelline, you might have to run with him.” Our eyes meet. She’s talking about Crow.
“I’m not leaving you behind.” My voice a whisper, my chest feeling heavy with the thought of leaving this town.
“Yes, you will.” Her defiant tone making me smile, but I am never leaving Dime. If she wants to move away one day, that is one thing, but I’m not going to be the one to leave her behind. Our parents left us both behind because they loved their drugs more than us. They put their high before their children.
Dime is like my kid, and I always put her first. Sisters first, right?

Turns out the buyers are called Mad Doggs MC and they reside on the other side of Atlanta. They’ve been nothing but a problem for the club and have been making more and more demands as time goes on. Chaos just informed me that their most recent demand was for the club not to sell to anyone else in the state. That puts the club as a target for backing out of contracts, and not to mention the pay cut. Getting rid of the Mad Doggs MC would make a big difference for the club. Ruin was thinking about just running over there and doing a drive-by but that would kick off a turf war and the DEA would be all over them for sure if he had done that.
Sitting at the table with an arm that feels like it was put through a wood chipper, I stare at an empty tumbler that had whiskey in it seconds ago, burn still on my tongue.
“Let me deliver the drugs, then I’ll call my boss and tell them everything here is clean that the Mad Doggs are pressuring the Kings to do business turning you guys from club enthusiasts to actual drug dealers,” I tell the table the plan and they all look to Chaos for his go-ahead.
“Will your men try and push you to make the Kings buy the drugs so then they can make two busts?” Chaos asks. He’s smart, he knows the DEA better than a lot of criminals do.
“Yeah, they might.” I’m honest, I’ve seen it happen before.
“But we won’t, and we will move all our product to a new location for the time being, especially because they’ll be looking at the Mad Doggs. So then when they’re done with them if they do come snooping here, we will be clean.” Ruin looks to his dad for confirmation and receives a curt nod.
“What about him? Do we just let him stay in the club as a prospect?” Bash asks, his eyes staring into me like an enemy. I’m going to have to earn his trust, I’m sure he’s not the only one side-eyeing me in this room.
