Hack - Silver Saints MC - Page 22

Hack cut off the engine and twisted around to scan my face. He must not have been too worried about what he saw there because his lips curved up in a small grin. When he took off his sunglasses, there was a glint of humor in his dark orbs. “What’s got you all worked up?” I shrugged, and his smile widened. “You were plastered against my back for the entire ride over without an ounce of tension in your sweet body. Something about being back here must’ve set you off.”

“It’s just that I realized I don’t even know where you live or when I’m going to see you next,” I muttered as I climbed off his motorcycle and removed the helmet he had insisted I wear. Spotting Jessica’s car in my spot, I was reminded that I needed to get my car back from the hotel...and that asking Hack to stay with me was a terrible idea. My roommates were horrible, and I hated the idea of them being anywhere near the man I’d somehow managed to fall in love with in no time at all. The depth of my feelings for Hack hit me, and I stumbled over the curb. Strong arms wrapped around my torso, catching me before I fell. “Thanks.”

Hack twisted my body around and pulled me close. “The Silver Saints are based in a town a little more than five hundred miles from here.”

“Five hundred miles?” I mumbled into his chest, feeling the burn of tears filling my eyes. He lived closer to me than my parents, but I felt as though he was going to be half a world away from me. A seven-hour road trip each way was a big roadblock for a new relationship.

He pressed his index finger under my chin to tilt my head back. When our gazes met, a muscle in his jaw jumped. “Do you have a problem with moving that far away? I didn’t think it was going to be an issue since you haven’t renewed your lease or found a new place here.”

The reminder of how close he’d been keeping track of me soothed my nerves. “I guess moving is a possibility for me. I haven’t lined up a job yet, either. I could focus my search closer to you. Maybe we’ll get lucky, and I’ll find something soon so I can move before my lease here is up. If I come for a visit, I could try to line up some interviews and look at apartments while I’m there.”

“I’m glad you’re okay with moving, but your plan doesn’t work for me.” He shook his head as a big grin spread across his face.

I bit my bottom lip, unsure what he meant since my plan seemed solid to me. “Which part?”

“You’re not coming to visit, baby.” I tried to jerk away from him, but he dropped his hand to hold me in place. “I’m not sure where these doubts are coming from, but I’ll bust my ass for the rest of my life so I never give you a reason to question what you mean to me.”

“Since I’m new to all of this relationship stuff, I think I need you to spell it out for me,” I requested as I twined my arms around his neck.

“I wasn’t blowing smoke up your ass when I said that you’re mine and you’re gonna wear my cut when we get home.” His fingers dug into my hips, holding me in place. “And that’s going to be a fuck of a lot sooner than however long it takes you to find a job, which could be as quick as you want if you’re cool with using your design skills to help out the businesses the Silver Saints own.”

It sounded as though I didn’t need to worry about how a long-distance relationship would work for us. “What kind of timeline were you thinking?”

“Now.” He jerked his chin in the direction of a moving truck that had pulled in several spaces down from us while we were talking. “I called the guys who helped Dom when he moved Lucy in with him after that shit went down with David.”

My eyes widened in shock since I’d figured they were here for one of my neighbors. “That truck is for my stuff?”

“Yup.” He nodded and grinned.

I tilted my head to the side and smiled back at him, pressing against his body as the final bit of my tension drained away. “Do you have a place lined up for me already?”

“I bought a house a few months ago that I think you’ll love.” It was a good thing he was holding me so tightly or else I might’ve hit the ground. His admission rocked me to my core. “It’s on an oversized lakefront lot with lots of privacy. But I had them lay fiber optic cable, so you don’t need to worry about being in the middle of nowhere. You’ll be able to get online and do your graphic design thing whenever you need it.”
