Dragon may be annoying as shit, and a thorn in my side, but I got to admit Nicole is gorgeous and probably too damn good for him. Then again, Kayden is too good for me too.
Her girl Keanna comes out next, and Dancer’s boy, Hawk, walks her up the aisle.
“Get ready for my girl to rock your socks off,” she says to me with a wink. I got to admit, I like that girl, even if she’s crazy as hell.
That’s when I see her.
Kayden.
Absolutely gorgeous in a long flowing white gown that curves against her body like a second skin. Her hair is piled up on her head with long curls hanging down on each side. There’s no veil for my girl, instead a tiara and it’s perfect, because she truly is a princess. I keep my eyes on her, she’s smiling but as she goes to stand in front of me, I can see the tears. I know they’re happy tears, but I don’t want to see them on her face, just the same. I take the tip of my thumb and wipe away the couple of tears that have leaked out.
“No crying, Baby Girl.”
“I love you, Chains.”
“I love you,” I whisper back.
“I’m starting to like you, Chains, but just so you know, if you hurt her even once, I’ll kill you and do it with a smile.”
“Daddy!”
“Understood,” I tell him, and the strangest thing happens, because I do it smiling. I’ve never been surer of anything than I am of the fact that marrying Kayden is what I was meant to do in life. Me, a nomad, a man who has lived his life with no ties, drifting from town to town and loving that shit, was made for the sole purpose of marrying this woman, putting babies in her belly and making sure she spends her days laughing, smiling, and being happy. She’s my reason, my purpose and I would gladly die to protect her and make sure she always has that.
Dragon kisses his daughter on the forehead.
“I love you, Princess. You’re my heart and you always have been.”
“I love you, too, Daddy.”
“I’m always here for you, Kay-Kay. Even when you no longer need me. I will always have your six.”
“I know, Daddy. You’ve always been there for me,” Kayden says, crying again. She wraps her arms around him and he hugs her close and then fuck, if I don’t see tears on his face as he holds his daughter close.
I’ve never been envious of a man in my life, but right now watching Dragon hold my woman and seeing the love between them, I am. I’d never tell the asshole, but I’m going to use him as a role model and one day, I’m going to hold my daughter in the exact same way and make sure she knows that I will always have her back. I will always be her safe place—just like I will always be Kayden’s.
Dragon takes Kayden’s hand and puts it over mine. The man looks me in the eye and I can see he’s not one bit ashamed of the tears on his face. All I see from him right now is pride.
“I’m giving you my biggest treasure, son. Don’t make me regret it,” he adds.
My throat is tight as I nod my head, feeling so many different emotions that words are impossible. Then he walks away and I’m left holding Kayden’s hand.
My lover, my best friend, my heart….
My destiny.50DomTwo Weeks Later* * *“Gabby, we need to…”
“Dom, don’t… don’t do this,” Gabby whispers, her voice breaking.
Fuck.
I don’t think I’ll ever get used to how beautiful she is. Her almost porcelain white face, her golden blonde, wavy hair that falls around her face in a soft blanket. She’s almost the spitting image of her mother, but even more beautiful. Then there are her eyes. She has those dark black eyes that have always called to me. Eyes that she says she got from her father, but I’ve never seen the likes of them before, anywhere. They seem to hold the secrets of the universe in them.
Shit.
There’s never been another girl for me. I took one look at Gabby when I was a kid and that was it. I was gone for her.
Completely gone.
The problem is, so was my brother. I’ve spent my life looking out for Thomas. Hell, I still do—even though I don’t have to. He’s old enough and definitely tough enough to fight his own battles now. Still, this would hurt him and I can’t do that… Not even for Gabby.
That doesn’t mean this doesn’t hurt like a motherfucker right now. I’d do anything to stop Gabby’s tears. I’d lie, cheat, steal. Hell, I’d kill for this girl. I feel the same way about my brother, though and I can’t hurt him. I just… can’t.
