Mr. Heartbreaker: Black Mountain Academy - Page 39

She just might be all that matters period.

I’m claiming her and I’m never going to let her get away.26Violet“Hey baby,” Mike says as I walk outside.

I’m still getting used to that. I’m not sure how to react. It’s been a week since Mike came by my place. I stopped my transfer papers, and came back to school and Mike. He’s been an attentive boyfriend ever since. Boyfriend. I laugh at the word. There’s nothing boyish about Mike in the least.

“What are you smiling about?” I ask him when I make it over to where he is sitting and talking to Ben and Davis.

“I saw you and knew I’d get to taste those lips of yours again,” he says with a goofy smile on his face.

See? What girl could stand against that?

It’s definitely not me, as evidenced by the way I let Mike kiss me, pull me against his body, his arms wrapping around me as he explores my mouth hungrily. I feel his hand move down my back, his touch warming my skin, even through my clothes. His hands flatten and slide against my ass and he pulls me against the hard outline of his cock. It’s too much underneath all the watchful eyes of the school, but I can’t make myself pull away.

Simply because I don’t want to.

“Damn,” Davis whines—way too loudly. “Big Mike strikes again.”

I tense up for a minute. The last thing I ever want to be is compared to all of Mike’s conquests before me. It makes me wonder if I’m fooling myself and just one in a long line.

“I could kill him for you if it will make you feel better,” Mike suggests quietly, kissing my cheek once he feels the change in me.

“I don’t think having my uh…”

“Your man?” he suggests helpfully.

“My boyfriend.”

“Ouch. I’m going to take that as I need to prove to you I’m not a boy.”

“Whatever you say,” I laugh. “I just don’t think you being thrown in jail would be a great way to start this relationship.”

I start to sit down in the chair, but Mike doesn’t let me. Instead, he picks me up and puts me in his lap. I start to argue, but he stops me with his next words.

“I’ve missed you all day and all of last night, Angel. Give this to me. I need you in my arms.”

I turn to stare at him. All pretense is gone. Easy going Mike has slipped away and there’s an earnestness on his face that I know I’m the only one that gets to see. I kiss him again. I couldn’t keep from it if I wanted to—and I definitely don’t want to.

“God, again? You two are disgusting. I’m going to get out of here,” Ben grumbles, as we pull apart. My forehead stays pressed against Mike’s. He’s grinning at me and I return the smile, happier than I can ever remember being. Mike is starting to make me believe in fairytales.

I should be cautious, even be scared, but I can’t make myself.

I think I trust him—or at least I’m starting to.

“Don’t run off, Ben!” Mike yells out, giving me a squeeze as I settle against him.

Ben makes a dismissing motion with his hand.

“Are you going to Devil’s Tooth Friday night?” Davis asks.

Ben doesn’t answer and I can tell both Mike and Davis are irritated from the way they’re staring at Ben.

“What’s going on?” I ask carefully, suddenly afraid the question is a mine field and I should tread carefully.

“I don’t know. Ben has been a mess ever since the game the other night. I saw him and Camden fighting,” Mike replies, giving me a squeeze and focusing his attention back on me.

“Those two hate one another,” Davis grumbles.

I give both guys a grin. “I think they like each other too much,” I reply taking a bite of Mike’s French fries that are on his plate. I grabbed a sandwich—PB&J—and a couple apples. I’ll put them in my backpack before I leave here to go back to class. I wasn’t hungry so I picked food I could take back to Rooster and Gladys. Now, suddenly, I’m famished, but I think that’s because being around Mike makes everything better.

Makes me happier.

“What? No way!” Davis denies. I grin up at Mike, finishing off the fry.

“Yep. No one drags out the hate inside you like someone that either makes you want to choke them or kiss them,” I giggle, my gaze still on Mike. I watch his lips come up in a crooked-goofy smile.

“You sound like you’re speaking from experience,” Mike says, not even trying to bother hiding he’s getting ready to laugh with me. This new side to Mike, the happy-go-lucky one? I really like.

“Gee, you think?” I taunt.

“You two really are annoying,” Davis snaps. “Can’t you have some pity on us single guys whose balls are turning blue because it’s been so long since he got a piece?”
